Facebook Confirms Investigating Pro-Bernie Sanders Post

by John Smith Freelancer

According to the reports of the Wall Street Journal, Facebook has recently investigated the contents posted on its platform supporting Senator Bernie Sanders. The contents posted in the favor of Bernie Sanders during the 2020 presidential campaign were considered as suspicious and compelled the social media giant to investigate into the matters. Facebook has to initiate investigations into the contents posted on its platform favoring Bernie when some outside researchers told the social media giant that they have found pieces of evidence against Bernie that he has taken the support of Trump supporters and Russian agents in circulating the contents.

Meanwhile, the social media giant has said in a statement that the company has investigated properly into the matter but could not found anything suspicious and so it is not able to validate the claims made against pro-Bernie contents made by the researchers. The news has been reported by the Wall Street Journal that the top executives were informed about the investigation. Amidst all, the spokesperson of social media giant has said in a statement that whenever the company found any inauthentic or suspicious content, it took no time to remove such contents. The spokesperson also cited some examples when the company took stringent actions and removed many inauthentic contents that originated from Iran, Myanmar, Russia, and Vietnam.

He also mentioned that the company took down many contents and accounts that were found involved in spreading misinformation about the elections that took place in North Africa, Latin America, and the USA in the year 2020. The misleading contents were found originated from Iran and Russia and attempting to influence the elections in the wrong way. Meanwhile, Bernie Sanders in an interview has made his stand clear and said that he did not regard Vladimir Putin as his friend and so taking any support or allowing Russia to influence his candidature is towards impossible for him. Bernie further said he considers Putin as an autocratic thug who is attempting to crush dissent in Russia and destroying democracy.

Further making his views clear over the allegations and investigation into the contents posted on Facebook supporting him, he said that Putin is not his friend as Donald Trump regarded him as a good friend. Bernie said that he thought that Russians are trying to undermine the democracy in America and he is against any such foreign powers who are willing to interfere in the 2020 elections in the USA.

The news that Russia is interfering in the presidential elections in the USA was intensified in the year 2016 as some reports were presented by the U.S. intelligence agencies and the Senate intelligence committee. According to the reports of Robert Mueller, the former special counsel it was revealed that the Russian agents are attempting to interfere in the 2016 elections by spreading both misinformation on the social media sites and stealing the information from the social media accounts.

According to the New York Times, the intelligence officials have told the House intelligence committee that Russia was attempting to interfere in the presidential elections in the year 2020 in favor of President Donald Trump. Only after getting such reports, the social media giant was pressurized to investigate the matter. Amidst all, Facebook has stated that it is continuously fighting with such contents spreading misinformation and has taken several steps. The social media giant has also signed Reuters which is a big news organization for the identification of fake news posted on Instagram and Facebook.  Reuters will act as the third party for checking facts for Facebook and investigate into the videos, headlines, photos and other contents posted in Spanish and English language. In similar allegations, Twitter took firm steps and deleted the accounts posted suspicious contents supporting Mike Bloomberg.
