Ayurveda, the old traditional system of healing practice in India uses more than 5000 herbs.  These herbs are used for strengthening and healing the immunity system of our body. It supports the detoxification in the body, as it naturally gets absorbed by the body, whereas synthetic drugs don't. Ayurvedic healing system relies on a proper food diet. Dried herb powder can be used in our daily diet.

  • Ashwagandha: Commonly known as winter cherry, ashwagandha is considered as an adaptogen which decreases stress and anxiety and increases the muscle strength. It may act as an anti-cancer agent and reduce the cortisol level in the body. The recommended dose is 450-500 mg per day, as the powder proves to be good for body functioning. Pregnant women are usually forbidden to intake this herb.
  • Neem: Famous for its effective work on skin complexions and removing acnes off the skin. It has a body cooling effect which helps in maintaining blood sugar level and reduces fever. Traditionally, Ayurveda recommends to take them in the powdered form. It's bitter in taste but provides a good benefit for the digestive system.
  • Ajwain: Carom seeds are widely used as a spice in Indian seasonings. It works so effectively against kidney disorders. Use the ajwain powder with some ginger powder for indigestion. It can also help remove common cold by inhaling the ajwain powder in a cloth.
  • Turmeric: Known as Haldi in many ceremonies, turmeric powder is very useful for skin, blood, liver, and lungs. Use it as a supplement by intaking with warm water. As mentioned it is widely used for skin beautification by making turmeric powder into a paste.
  • Amla: Amala or Amalaki is a sour tasting fruit which grows throughout India. Due to its rich content in antioxidant, it directly helps in the detoxification process of the body. It’s also an important component of Triphala (ayurvedic herb). The powder form is frequently used with water or warm milk.

As Ayurveda is widely practiced in India most of the Ayurvedic products are manufactured and supplied from the Indian companies. Even though the benefits if ayurvedic herbs powder are still not clearly researched, it is quite familiar in the USA and mid-east countries. Apart from using them as a food diet often, some of the herbs can be used as tooth powder and bath powder too. Some Ayurvedic herbs can bring harmful side effects to the body if they are not taken with proper instructions. Before taking any herbal powder, it is recommended to consult with a good Ayurvedic practitioner.
