7 must-visit forts in North Goa:
1. Reis Magos Fort
It is known among the oldest forts of North Goa and offers exclusive panoramic views all around. It was built in 1551 on the bank of Mandovi River, Goa. Recently, it has been restored by the cultural and heritage center of Goa.
2. Chapora Fort
It is definitely the most popular one to be visited by tourists. You must witness the sunrise and sunset in Goa from here. Bijapur’s Sultan Adil Shah had built this fort in 1510. It is situated at the joining of the Chapora River and the Arabian Sea.
3. Terekhol Fort
It is another Goa famous fort and locally known as Tiracol Fort. It is situated at the start of River Tiracol and thus has awesome scenic beauty. To reach this fort, you need to take a ferry ride from Querim to Terekhol. It was too built in the 17th century and Maharaja Khem Sawant Bhonsle has constructed this architecture. 4. Corjeum Fort
It was established at the beginning of the 17th century. The surrounding of the fort offers marvelous scenic background. Corjeum Fort is known as one of the two inland forts in this island city. It was served as the Portuguese Military Fortress of that era. Its unique location makes it more exquisite for visiting.
5. Nanuz Fort
One of the most popular forts in Goa, which every nature-lover and peace-seekers would love to visit. It has a glorious historical background. It was established back in the 17th century by the Maratha ruler Chatrapati Shivaji. It has witnessed the collapse and upsurge of the city. The aromatic surrounding attracts every visitor.
6. Sinquerim Fort
This fort is located only 18 km away from the main city. It is the subordinate extension of Aguada Fort, which was established back in 1612. The position of this fort has clearly divided the Sinquerim beach into two halves. 7. Aguada Fort
