Expert Tips for Winning Cheap Flight Tickets
by Althaf M Yoonus Digital Marketing ExecutiveThe most expensive part of any
international travel is the airline ticket cost. Actually, ticket
prices are rising because companies are merging and fuel costs are increasing. However, you can cut down your
ticket cost if you know how to find cheap international
flights. Having said that here are some tips from cheap
flight experts:
#1: Most
airlines, especially the East Asian airlines, set prices on the basis of
national holidays as they get more business from local passengers. This means
that cheap
airline flights will be available around western holidays as the
demand will be low then. It is, therefore, worth watching all East Asian
airlines, especially the Chinese airlines, during these holiday seasons.
#2: Charter airlines often come up last-minute
flight deals. Most airlines, including budget ones, hike fares for almost all
routes a few weeks before the departure date. This is because airlines know
that travellers looking for tickets at the last minute are not too much worried
about the prices. Typically, they are business travellers and they often travel
on business purposes or on an emergency. Charter airlines structure their
business around holiday packages. They offload undersold capacity at the last
minute at lower rates.
#3: International
flight booking is about
timing. Prices keep fluctuating heavily on all routes. Airlines often announce
flash sales when they do not achieve the predicted sale that they announced 11
months earlier. Prices often plummet by as much as 60 percent during flash
sales. Don’t search blindly for flash sales. Track ticket fares to desired destinations
with the help of tools and book when you see a significant drop in price.
#4: Never assume that flight aggregators
such as Kayak or Skyscanner would always provide you with the best flight deals.
While it is true that it works in the case of some airlines, it is better that
you book tickets directly in the case of some others such as Norwegian airlines
and charter airlines like Thomas Cook.
#5: When traveling from the U.K., take full
advantage of the one-way flights that head to the west, but it is better to avoid
the one-way flights heading to the east. Most airlines levy a hefty surcharge
on one-way flights, while some others offer one-way tickets at half the return price.
