Everything You Should Know About Raising Dion Season 2by Ashley Miller Engineer
The recently premiered American superhero sci-fi web series Raising Don has been creating a buzz over the internet, and reasonably so. It is yet another web-series in the superhero genre, but with a bit of uniqueness. The series premiered on 4th October 2019, but it was announced a couple of years ago in 2017. The Netflix web-series is created by Carol Barbee, who takes inspiration from the comic books of the same name by Dennis Liu.
The story revolves around a single mother, Nicole Warren, played by Alisha Wainwright, who laments over her husband, who passed away. Her husband, Mark, is played by Michael B. Jordan. Mark is a hero among the BIONA scientists and passed away during a storm. The young main lead is played by Ja’Siah Young, who does not possess the full knowledge about his prowess. Jason Ritter plays another BIONA engineer named Pat, and he is Dion’s godfather. Pat is hell-bent on saving Dion at all costs, even if it means upsetting Nicole in the process.
The season starts with a bang and wraps up with a shocking twist. The finale hinted towards an inevitable superhero clash. Here is what you should expect from the second season.
- Season 2 Renewal
The second installment has not yet been ordered by Netflix as the streaming service generally takes 20 to 40 days before announcing the renewal or cancellation decisions. This means that the announcement will most likely be made around Thanksgiving. If we take Netflix’s renewal history as an example, then it becomes a little confusing. The supernatural series The Order premiered on March 2019 and was renewed in the same month. Whereas another paranormal series, Wu Assassins, has not been renewed despite premiering on 8th August. Seeing how Raising Dion has garnered a positive response from the audience, the series is most likely to be renewed.
- The Release Date
The first season was announced way back in 2017, which means it took Netflix two years to premiere the series. However, the trend will most likely change, and Netflix will aim to produce one season per year. The tight schedule of Jordan would not pose significant problems as executive producer since he is not the leading member of the cast. Jordan would not have to devote as much time, so the series will most likely premiere in fall 2020.
- The Plot
The first season wrapped up with Pat attempting to track down Dion. With some help from Esperanza, Nicole figures out that the bad guy is only able to see people with superpowers. This helped Dion in defeating the dark energy. Mark is recognized for some brief moments as he provides advice about how energy can form in different shapes. As the season was wrapping up, The Crooked Man takes control over Brayden Mils’ body. So it is most likely that the second season will showcase the two second-gen superpowered kids, hence a battle of good vs. bad.
