About CDS (Combined Defense Service)

If you are thinking of giving yourself the chance to try out the Combined Defense service exam, then here is everything you need to know. Firstly, this exam is conducted by the Union Public Service commission every year for two times in order to recruit Army, Air force and for the Navy. As those who qualify the written test as interviewed by the service Selection board, they are given training in various fields.

The fields are:

·         Indian Military Academy in Dehradun.

·         Officers training academy in Chennai.

·     Officers Training academy in Chennai for 21st SCC Women in non technical.

·         Indian Naval academy in Ezhimala.

·         Air force Academy in Hyderabad.

·         The Officers training Academy in Chennai for women only.

Here are the rest of the important details that you need to know about CDS,

1.  Eligibility- In order to be an eligible candidate for this exam, the candidate should be Indian or subject of Nepal or Bhutan. Furthermore, a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1st 1962 is eligible.

Those of Indian origin but migrated to Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma or East African countries are also eligible.

2.  Qualification- Here is the list of qualification criteria for various fields:

  • ·  Air force Academy- for this a degree with Mathematics and Physics at 10 +2 along with a degree in a recognized university is needed or a Bachelor of Engineering.
  • ·   For the Indian Naval Academy- A degree in Bachelor of Engineering is required.
  • ·    For OTA or IMA- a degree from a recognized university is required.

3.      Application Fee- For candidates other than female/ SC/ ST need to pay INR 200.

Method of Payment- Payment through online Internet banking or submission at a branch of State Bank of India is required.
