Even Industrial Electric Ovens Needs TLC(tender- love -care) For A Long Life!

by Yancy Butler Savage Engineered Equipment

Industrial electric ovens just like any other industrial equipment are prone to breakdowns if not properly taken care of and these breakdowns are quite an expensive one. In order to enhance the life of the thermal components, lessen the frequency of shutdowns, and prolonged the oven service life, regular preventive maintenance is required.

At present, there are several types of industrial electric ovens models are existing in the market and the maintenance checklist(includes timeframes like a monthly checklist or weekly and shift checklist) cannot be same for every model but there are few specifications which are common to almost any type of industrial oven. They contribute to the great extent for the working of the ovens and needs to be maintained:-

Air Pressure Switches and Airflow:- You are required to check the air pressure switches on a weekly basis to fix the pressure settings because these switches impact the efficiency of the oven. When you wish to replace them, you must follow manufacturer instructions.

There will be a change in the overall temperature profile of the oven and can lead to certain catastrophic consequences if airflow of the oven is restricted. You should make sure that components like a duct, oven chamber, and ventilation must be in a healthy state to avoid failure of several parts due to overheating.

Power Supply:- In the case of Industrial electric ovens, one should carefully supply power within certain limits to avoid overloading of control devices and transformers. Even the under voltage can cause operational failure of many essential components.

Control devices:-If you invest your time and efforts in conducting periodical checking/replacement of control devices and auxiliary parts, you will get a prolonged and efficient working life of overall oven. You should check that there is not any uncontrolled power supply to the oven due to contact welding (when arcing causes pitting or due to any other reason).

Connectors or Sensors:-The thermocouples and sensors life rely on the overall operating environment and temperature. Proper and periodical replacement of sensors and thermocouples can avoid damaging of products inside the oven. This step will make sure that sensors do not fail to respond.

Monthly or Bi-Weekly cleaning:-  In order to maintain the industrial oven life and avoid future expensive repairs or replacement performs cleanliness of your industrial equipment on a monthly or bi-weekly basis. The persistent heating procedures can lead to powder coating systems in en covered in dust which needs to be clean. For the exterior cleaning of the oven, you can use chemical-free detergents to maintain its shine and aesthetic appeal for the longer duration.
