Enjoy Urban Beaches in the Heart of London
by Jhon Smith BloggerLondon
has convenient links with some of the best beaches in the country that are
bound to give any visitor a pleasurable time because of their picturesque
dunes, chilly, refreshing sea and delicious ice creams on sale at the various
kiosks. When the summer descends on London, it is difficult to keep back
Londoners from going to these beaches anytime they get the right opportunity.
However, it does take some planning to travel to the beaches which cannot be
done at the drop of a hat and as such, many urban beaches have been developed
in the city so that residents and visitors can reach and enjoy them
conveniently. With the development of these urban beaches, there is no need to
even step outside the M25 as you can enjoy the sand deck chairs in the city itself.
Olympic Park Beach East
The
Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford is getting transformed into the
largest urban beach in the UK as 1000 tonnes of sand have been unloaded here to
create two different beaches that will have amusement parks, a huge paddling
pool, a volleyball court, a food court, and several cocktail bars. Kids will
also be kept amused as they can splash around in the paddling pool or go on one
of the fairground rides. Entry is free and doors open at 10am.
The
Beach at Brent Cross
This urban beach also claims to
be the biggest in London and it seems like it is a complete seaside town in
itself. It boasts of having an amusement park that offers rides for both young
and old. It also has several restaurants, a large seafront pool, a cake shop,
magic shows, some bars, and Punch and Judy shows. It provides an ideal place to
relax on a summer afternoon unlike the North Circular as this beach is going to
transform the whole area that will be embellished with 100 palm trees, a giant
paddling pool and a 60ft rollercoaster. This beach located in front of Brent
Cross shopping centre stays open each night until 10pm and it has an entry fee
of £3 per person.
Camden
Beach
Returning to London’s Roundhouse,
Camden Beach opens on July 17 and will continue till August 23. It opens its
doors at 5pm and it features 150 tonnes of sand, pop-up restaurants, the
largest selection of beach bars, deckchairs, beach huts, ping pong, and rooftop
gardens. Visitors can enjoy an eclectic mix of vodka cocktails. The beach also
offers packages for the rooftop garden or for a personal beach hut, that
include beer, wine, popcorn and waiter service at a cost of at least £250.
Visitors to London, who wish to
enjoy these urban beaches if they are in the city during the summer, would find
it convenient to stay at one of The
Montcalm Luxury Hotels as they would be located close to them.
London’s
Royal Docks
Located
next door to Excel Exhibition Centre on the Royal Victoria Docks, this beach is
one of the largest in London. It is on from July 14th until August
30th and it will also offer some family entertainment. It offers
free entry and will be open every day from 10am to 8pm. An airborne entry can
also be made to this beach as it is located next to Emirates Airline Cable Car.
More than 200 tonnes of sand have been dumped here signifying that it is quite
a spacious area.
Guests
at London
City Suites hotel get to stay in a luxurious hotel that offers all the
facilities and is located close to most attractions of the city.
The
Beach at JW3
The beach at JW3, the Jewish
Community Centre, is being packed with plenty of events this summer. These
events include a circus for families, Hebrew sing-alongs and a dance session
called “Boogie on the Beach”. Apart from the attractions for the kids it has
plenty of entertainment for adults also with an event “Drink, Doodle and Draw”
that will give you a chance to get artistic and maybe a bit tipsy.
The
Big Beach
This
urban beach will necessitate covering the Parade at Watford with sand and it is
expected that it will be completely crowded with activities that will take
place for a little over a whole week at the end of July and into August. The
activities will include face-painting, yoga, swing music, tug of war
competitions and a few more so that visitors are kept entertained.
Southbank
Beach
This
beach is one of the most popular in London and it is back this year as it is a
summertime favourite of many people. It is situated opposite the South Bank
between the Queen’s Walk and the Thames along the shores of the river. Although
it does not offer the large range of activities that other urban beaches do, it
has a fantastic location which is just adjacent to the London Eye. It is
returning this year as part of the Festival of Love and opens from 10am-6pm Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday
and from 10am to 8pm Thursday and Friday. It is on from June 6th
until September 14.
