This being the heart of traditional England, you won’t be surprised to learn that both counties offer a generous complement of old-fashioned Christmas fairs, not just at the height of the seasonal shopping season in late December, but right through the last months of the year.

With such exciting Yuletide fairs and markets as the Beth Chatto Christmas Fayre in Colchester (25^th and 26^th November), Maldon Vintage Christmas Fayre (30^th November), St Albans Christmas Market (25^th November to 23^rd December), Hatfield House Frost Fair (16^th to 19^th November) and Bishop’s Stortford Christmas Fayre (2^nd December) all lined up, there will be no shortage of Christmas spirit in evidence across the two counties over the next few months.

This does not even consider the wealth of other all-year-round attractions in Hertfordshire and Essex that continue to open their doors throughout the festive period – including country houses, art galleries, museums and more.
