Enjoy Caribbean Holidays on the Most Wonderful Islands

by Daisy Wilkinson Travel Guides

The Caribbean is a region that comprises the Caribbean Sea and the islands surrounded by it. However, this region also includes islands bordering the Caribbean Sea as well as the North Atlantic Ocean. The region has numerous islands, islets, cays, and reefs. Most of the residents in the Caribbean islands are descendants of the slaves. They were brought from Africa during the colonial era by the Europeans to work on the sugar plantations. You can have plenty of options in this part of the world when it comes to beautiful islands, white-sand beaches, and other enchanting natural features.

Any time of the year can be chosen for travel to this region except the hurricane season, as it poses certain risks with the presence of strong winds and heavy rainfall. The best time to enjoy your Caribbean holidays is summer. This season has the warmest temperatures and presents ideal conditions to enjoy your time on the beaches and to visit the popular attractions, but you’ll have to watch out for the rains. If you like the temperatures to be less warmer with minimal rains, winter would the perfect season to be in this region.

One of the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean is Antigua, which is called ‘Waladli’ or ‘Wadadli’ by its locals. It is the main island of the country, Antigua and Barbuda. Your Caribbean holidays spent on this island would give you the opportunity to explore some fascinating natural surroundings, including serene beaches that offer vast stretches of white sands. It is particularly known for yachting and sailing. A major event dedicated to sailing called the ‘Antigua Sailing Week’ is held towards the end of April in this island, which continues for a week. It brings a large number of sailors and sailing vessels to this destination.

You can also consider Saint Lucia for your Caribbean holidays, as this island nation gives you the chance to enjoy a tropical weather, fabulous beaches, and awe-inspiring natural beauty. The major tourist attractions on the island are the two charming peaks called ‘The Pitons’. In addition to these majestic peaks, there are many other attractions including sulphur springs, volcano, and botanic gardens. The island is also one of the major destinations for cruise travellers. Tourists arriving in this attractive destination during its festivals can witness some grand celebrations involving musical performances and costumed parades. The major events held in this part of the Caribbean are the island’s carnival and the Saint Lucia Jazz Festival.

Jamaica is yet another fantastic Caribbean nation that can be chosen as your perfect holiday destination. It is the fourth-largest country in the region and was inhabited before the colonial era by the Arawaks and Tainos. With the establishment of British colonial rule in the country, it became one of the leading exporters of sugar. After its independence from the colonial rule, it went on to become one of the popular places for tourism. Over the years, the Jamaican culture has spread far and wide, especially with its musical genres like Reggae.
