Endometriosis-A Painful Disorder Among Women
by Indira IVF Indira IVF - Largest Fertility Chain In IndiaOverview
A
throbbing disorder that happens when the tissues which make up the uterine
lining (lining of the womb) seems to be there on the other organs of the body
is called endometriosis. It is a gynaecological condition that has been termed
as incurable but manageable among the sufferers. If there is a condition when
the tissues carry on breaking down, thicken, bleed during the menstrual cycle,
and react to their hormones, endometriosis takes place deep inside the body.
Tissues
and scar adhesions are formed that can cause anatomical changes and organ
fusion. Endometriosis has a combination with women having problems with
infertility and it is more common among them as compared to infertile women.
One of the things required in lowering the chances to have endometriosis
contains younger age of first pregnancy. Along with that, regular exercise is
also beneficial. If a woman tries to keep on exercising for not more than 4-5
hours per week, it will assist with pelvic pain for endometriosis.
Breastfeeding for a longer period can also help. One more thing is the number
of children a woman has, as the chances of having endometriosis can lower with
each pregnancy. However, this may be linked with the hormone progesterone
during pregnancy.
Endometriosis Symptoms
There
are different types of symptoms which have been identified regarding endometriosis.
Out of which, the first one can be cramping during menstrual periods. It is
said that women affected with endometriosis have to face menstrual pain that is
supposed to be far worse than usual and it can amplify over time. There can be
a pelvic pain that is often linked to menstrual periods.
Some
other Endometriosis Symptoms contain diarrhea, pain with urination or bowel
movements, during or after sexual intercourse, constipation, fatigue, lower or
abdominal pain, nausea or bloating especially during menstrual periods. There
might be occasionally heavy menstrual periods or inter-menstrual bleeding
(bleeding between periods).
Some
conditions might appear where there can be mild endometriosis with severe pain.
On the other hand, a woman may experience advanced endometriosis with less or
no pain. Sometimes it can be mistaken for other circumstances which cause
pelvic pain like pelvic inflammatory disease or ovarian cysts. There, a
confusion with irritable bowel syndrome comes which stands for a condition
responsible to cause bouts of diarrhoea, constipation and abdominal cramping.
It can accompany endometriosis by which chances of complication in the
diagnosis take place.
Endometriosis Causes
The
exact causes of this condition are however not convinced, but there are some
possible explanations like retrograde menstruation. Here, the menstrual blood
having endometrial cells, instead of flowing out of the body, it flows back
through the Fallopian tubes and into the pelvic cavity. The displaced
endometrial cells then get connected with the walls of the pelvic organs and
pelvic surfaces. After that, they develop and carry on thickening and bleeding
over the course of each menstrual cycle.
There
has been an induction theory where it has been expected that hormones or immune
factors support the transformation of peritoneal cells which line the abdomen's
inner part of women into endometrial cells. Estrogen, that is a hormone, can
also change embryonic cells which are cells in the initial stages of
development-into endometrial cell implant during puberty. Surgeries containing
hysterectomy or C-section may have an addition of endometrial cells to a
surgical incision. If there is an issue with the immune system, it can also
make the body incapable to recognize and demolish endometrial tissue that is
taking place outside the uterus.
Endometriosis Treatment
Talking
about the treatment of endometriosis, a person can take help from medication
that is one of the most conservative ways to treat it. There are non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory medications that can bring help in reducing the pain linked
with it. Medication can also be prescribed to the patients that can affect the
hormones of a woman to help her in the pain or endometriosis.
Another
way is to take help from fertility treatments like in-vitro fertilization. If a
woman is facing endometriosis, the physician may recommend her to think about
this procedure. Surgery is also available in such conditions. It can be
implemented when a requirement of removing endometriosis is there or to burn its
lesions outside of the uterus for creating the passage. If it is performed, a
woman can get rid of scar tissues by which the ovaries and tubes can go back to
their customary place in the pelvis. These are some of the things that can
assist in conditions like endometriosis.
