by Moonlight Wealth Seo Expert
Ever wonder if the mice running around in mazes know that they are part of a scientific experiment?

Me too.

I bring this up only because it's clear that the " For Dummies" book publisher are clearly conducting their own experiment.

Will online entrepreneurs be "dumb" enough to pay $500.00 dollars for a paperback book on drop shipping?

(Actually, I say $500.00 dollars but I have seen the price flucuate from $389.00 to $800.00 dollars on Amazon.Com).

Wow! That's a heap of money for a few dead trees and some ink.

I even tested my 'experiment theory' by trying to purchase the "Drop Shipping for Dummies" book OFF line.

Visiting a couple of local bookstores it became clear that the "For Dummies" publishers aren't going to release it in the 3D world.

What is Drop Shipping?
The basics of drop shipping are simple enough:

A) You advertise a product for sale on your site or sites like Amazon.

B) You take the order and forward the shipment details to the manufacturer or a wholesaler, who then ships the goods directly to the customer.

C) You take your profit off the top and then pay the drop shipper.

Many consider this a win-win-win scenario.

The Tough Part
The hard part of this whole process is finding reliable drop shippers who have low enough prices to make it worth your while. This search can take you months!

Risks
Sometimes a customer may place an order only to discover that the product is out of stock. The client is usually told that the item is on "back order" and they have the option of waiting for the new shipment. But many customers won't wait and simply go to the competition to have their order fulfilled.

Private Labeling
Many online entrepreneurs are getting smarter and arranging to have products private labeled. This is when a manufacturer produces a custom item for the entrepreneur. This helps to eliminate the competition and carve out a distinct niche that can be exploited.

The downside of private (often called "white") labeling is that it can be expensive. It requires quite a bit of money of front to retool the process and produce private brand labels and packaging.

However it It can overcome the problem of running out of stock because the entrepreneur can control product supply much better.
