Discover Gorgeous Islands During Cheap Maldives Holidays

by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel Deals

Maldives is one of those gorgeous island destinations that allow you to escape the hustle-bustle of crowds and unwind amidst beautiful white-sand beaches. It is an island country made up of more than a thousand islands and grouped into 26 atolls or ring-shaped coral reefs. This gives tourists visiting this country some diverse options in islands to choose from. Until the late 20th century, Maldives was not as popular among tourists as it is today. It was after the opening of tourist resorts that tourism began growing rapidly in the country.

During your cheap Maldives holidays, you'll get the chance to explore some of the island nation's most interesting places. You can begin with Male, the capital city of Maldives and the smallest national capital in the world. Known for its old mosque, heritage buildings, and lively markets, you can wander around in this city without any planned itinerary. The city can be used as a base for exploring the other islands located nearby. You can get to some mesmerising islands during your time spent in the island country. Upon visiting these islands, you can delight your senses on the powdery white sands of their beaches and indulge in some exciting activities.

One of these islands is Maafushi Island, which is located in the Southern Male atoll. It is one of those places where tourists can unwind and let go of their worries. What would instantly relax you upon arriving on this beach are its wonderful surroundings and soothing serenity. You'll also find some cosy guesthouses on this island that can also be quite affordable. The island also has some interesting historical monuments and restaurants worth exploring. A small sandbar on the northern part of the island would be a great spot to enjoy snorkelling, scuba diving, and catamaran cruises.

Hulhumale Island is yet another fabulous island you can visit while holidaying in this part of the world. It is spread across a vast area of more than 180 hectares and has an abundance of palm trees and spectacular beaches. The island has maintained neat and clean surroundings with its no-littering policy and it is also a great supporter of green spaces. Hulhumale is especially popular among travellers who have a day to spare before boarding their next flight. Its excellent connectivity to the airport makes it extremely convenient for tourists to visit this island.

Located in the southern Maalhosmadulhu Atoll, Fulhadhoo Island is largely uninhabited and is among the most picturesque islands located in the Indian Ocean. It has almost everything that one would like to see and do while booking a holiday to this island destination. The only place with a fairly larger number of people on the island is its western part, where a small village houses less than 250 individuals. Despite having such lesser numbers of people, the island gives you the chance to enjoy some thrilling outdoor activities, such as snorkelling, diving, swimming in the lagoons, and spotting turtles and dolphins. You can take a boat to Goidhoo Island upon arriving at the Maldives International Airport to reach Fulhadhoo.
