Academic profile

All the engineering departments and the faculty of architecture are licensed by the AICTE and the National Board of Accreditation.

Admission

Pupils are admitted to undergraduate classes on basis of the performance at Karnataka Common Entrance Test, or in the COMED-K test. Students are also admitted via a management plan, which doesn't put merit requirements. There's a lateral entry scheme set up, by which pupils holding degree degrees can enter directly to another year of research in technology. Pupils, upon training, get a Bachelor of Engineering degree.

Pupils are admitted to postgraduate courses on basis of the GATE test scores, in addition to in their Post Graduate Karnataka CET scores.

Course content and Grading

Each of the branches that have been conferred sovereign standing set their own course content and grading system. RVCE follows the credit-based system of performance evaluation, together with proportional weighting of courses based on their importance. The total marks (usually from 100) form the basis of grades, using a grade worth (out of 10) delegated to a selection of marks. For every semester, the students are graded by taking a weighted average from all of the courses with their respective credit points. Every term's test is completed independently with a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) representing the average performance across semesters. The medium of instruction is English. [20]

Achievements

RVCE has been recognized as a center for excellence by the Union Government of India. [1] In 2008, the college had the highest number of gold medal-winners among colleges associated with Visvesvaraya Technological University. [21] The section of Mechanical engineering of RVCE is the state's first degree programme in a private institution to be accredited by the National Board of Accreditation.
