Thanks to the 2018 Farm Bill that legalized access to CBD but left the legality of THC products up to the states, the world of cannabis and the uses of the CBD products to be gleaned from this versatile plant has opened up. As consumers learn more, the properties of the different varieties of cannabis are giving many pause. The traditional view of couch-locked, chip-crunching pot smokers is being replaced by mainstream users who thrive with the use of CBD products in particular.

Indica

The indica cannabis strain is commonly used in the generation of products for pain management, relaxation, sleep and appetite stimulation. Using this product will likely leave you feeling sleepy or at least relaxed.

CBD users who rely on the indica strain to help them fight;

  • upset stomach

  • chronic pain

  • anxiety

  • insomnia

likely use the product in edible form, often as a sublingual dose under the tongue. Many of these oils are flavored. Carefully review the carrier oil options in your CBD oil online store choice to make sure you get a flavor that works well for you. If you notice any tingling or burning, carefully monitor the tissue. If you notice redness that doesn't fade, discontinue use of the product. For most users, it's the flavor that causes a skin or tissue reaction.

The indica plant tends to be short and bushy. For those who chose to grow their own cannabis plants, this plant was easy enough to keep going indoors or behind a tall fence with little fear of sighting from outside the yard.

Sativa

Sativa cannabis products act on the brain more than the body and have a stimulating effect. If you enjoy the calming effect of indica CBD but want a product that you can take in the day without the feeling of bodily heaviness, the sativa strain may suit. This cannabis plant is tougher to grow than the indica strain. It's also prone to getting quite tall. While there are likely hybrid strains in development that offer plenty of energy from a short, bushy plant, finding the right response will probably take a long time.

If you've been using indica CBD products and enjoying the results, you may enjoy a sativa treatment in the middle of the day when your energy starts to droop. Be prepared for a sense of brain "lift" or elevation; problems you've been struggling with will be easier to see as a whole, and any creative interests you enjoy could take on a whole new intensity after a sativa dose.

Ruderalis

The cannabis variety ruderalis is a tough little plant. They are very short, generally under three feet tall, and prone to growing in rough conditions. They flower quickly and produce a naturally low THC product. If you're looking for a product that will provide plenty of relaxation with little fuss, the ruderalis products may suit you best. While recreational cannabis users have little use for this plant because the THC levels are so low, cannabis farmers see ruderalis as a great fill-in plant on marginal soil. It self-propagates quickly and needs little care once started.

When buying any cannabis product, shoppers must take great care in choosing products that are grown responsibly. If you live in a region where THC use is illegal, make sure that you buy from a reputable store to avoid any legal hassles. Finally, look for a dispensary that offers off-site testing to confirm the purity of product and growing process.

Hybrids

If you've already got some knowledge of cannabis products, you may want to shop around for a hybrid. For example, you may find a low THC product that you can use in the afternoon to let you relax in the evening without being drowsy. You may find a low CBD product that you can use after lunch to boost creativity and fight anxiety. If you don't know how a pure strain of any of the cannabis plants listed above impact you, hybrid sampling may just be confusing.

Conclusion

Cannabis is no longer the dirty word it once was. However, responsible adults will understand that, even if they only use CBD and don't get a sense of euphoric high, any product that impairs the brain should be used in very specific and controlled settings.
