Decentralized On-Demand Industry

Not long ago, along with other colleagues in the office, we played a little game. We Picked up any industry and adjusted blockchain in its applications. The result? We never came upon an industry that we couldn’t put blockchain into. This is the magnitude of impact this decentralized technology has created.

For those who are just getting introduced to Blockchain, let me tell you that it is a digital decentralized ledger which is encrypted and distributed through filling systems that allow the creation of immutable, real-time records. So that means, any data which is stored in blockchain can be transparently read and accessed but it cannot be deleted or tampered with. Thus, creating a huge database with all the records or everything. Literally everything.

The fact that it is decentralized, makes it so profoundly versatile. In the present world, everything is run on-demand. So much so that on-demand industry is the most flourished one. And the moment we start to imagine On-demand industry with Blockchain in it, an entire industry gets disrupted.

But how can this be done? According to recent news, Origin is working towards creating a platform based on Blockchain technology which will directly connect vendors with customers eliminating the need of third-party intermediaries.

Origin’s vision can be the starting point of a revolution in on-demand and share economy businesses. In a decentralized environment on Blockchain, the rider will be directly connected to drivers and guests will directly connect with hosts and so on, without the need of the third party such as Uber or Airbnb.

In Origin’s view, there will be one big platform built on ethereum mainnet, on which vendors and service providers can register and directly contact the customers. The idea behind making these decentralized marketplaces is to create a peer-to-peer network instead of peer-to-corporate-business-to-peer. This idea has been even compared to Craigslist.

And decentralized on-demand doesn’t start from Origin’s Idea only, There are platforms such as Blockfood which are using Blockchain in on-demand food delivery. Blockfood is an open platform created to connect customers to restaurants with a fair distribution model of revenue, based on smart contracts. BlockFood is the first project from the Open Sharing Economy foundation. This platform uses smart contracts to handle the payment and the progression of the orders placed by customers.

Similarly, Ufoodo is also a decentralized food delivery service. Ufoodo is a non-profit organization that, With the help of the Blockchain Technology and the therefore created payment method, the Ufoodo Token (UFT), ufoodo creates a decentralized ecosystem which should equally serve the clients, restaurants, and couriers. The platform directly connects clients, restaurants and a courier pool and allows to interact between the different parties. The Blockchain or rather the uChain-protocol ensures a safe autonomous process and a transparent payment processing for restaurants and couriers. As a result of eliminating the middleman, Ufoodo is able to provide the delivery of qualitative food from the favorite restaurants of the clients, whereas the profit stays where it has been created.

Apart from on-demand Food delivery, On-demand taxi services are also moving towards Blockchain and decentralization. Chasyr last year had combined Uber and Cryptocurrency in order to achieve this view. Created by an Uber driver himself, Chasyr aims to disrupt the economy by offering the unique benefits of blockchain technology and built-in cryptocurrency tokens.

These were only a few examples of how blockchain is finding its spot in the on-demand industry. The on-demand industry is being disrupted by Blockchain and decentralization for a long time already. What remains for these companies to grow and gain publicity so that their technologies can gain the acceleration they’re capable of.
