Cyber Security Lösungen to Ensure Efficient Remote Working

by CyberSecurity Services Advanced Cyber Security services Consulting Compan

Many companies switched to Work from Home due to the pandemic. As the days passed by, organizations discovered that employees are more productive with remote working than working from home.

While things are going great productivity-wise, organizations these days are worried about their cybersecurity. The more employees work from home, the higher is the risk of a security breach.

The last year went by rather quickly. But now that organizations have extended the remote working period, they are planning to take their cybersecurity seriously. And experts recommend the following Cyber Security Lösungen to them:

1.     Virtual Private Network – Organizations should make their employees work via VPN. This cybersecurity solution is a great way to improve online privacy. It encrypts online traffic, making it hard for any third party to read it. Whether you run a startup or an SMB, make sure your employees access company information using VPN only.

2.      Wi-Fi – Every home has a WiFi connection these days. While these connections are safe, the ones outside or the ones with no passwords are not secure.

Ask your employees to avoid using any public WiFi connections as they are a hot source of collecting confidential information.

3.    Routers – Most homeowners don't change the password of their home WiFi routers making their network vulnerable. As a company, you should encourage your employees to take small steps towards network protection. Share the benefits of Cyber Security Lösungen with them so they don't take things like home router passwords lightly.

4.      Account Passwords - Employees make use of multiple accounts while working for an organization. They can be anything from email accounts like Outlook and Gmail to messaging accounts such as Skype and Microsoft Teams. Tell them to use strong passwords and not ones that can be easily guessed.  A 'Remember Password' option in apps and browsers comes up every time you log in. Make sure your employees have it turned off for company accounts.

5.    Multi-Factor Authentication - Sometimes having strong passwords can also lead to security breaches. How can a company avoid that? Experienced Cyber Security Anbieter suggests two-factor or multi-factor authentication. It makes users perform some extra steps to verify their identity and protect confidential information.

These additional steps can be an email, an SMS, or a fingerprint scan, depending on the options chosen by the user.

6.   Backups - All the files should be regularly backed up. You cannot predict a cyberattack so your employees should be prepared for its consequences at all times. Backing up data regularly ensures the company still has access to them and they're not lost. A great way to do that is by storing these files in a well-protected cloud platform.

7.    Firewalls -  If you are an IT business, you may already be aware of firewalls. They prevent threats from entering an organization's system and create a barrier between the user's device and the internet. A lot of companies invested in firewalls in the past year. So, if you haven't done it yet, don't wait any longer.

8.    Antivirus Software - Many organizations are giving laptops and desktops to their employees. If you are doing that too, just make sure these devices have antivirus software installed in them. An updated antivirus can prevent threats, detect risks and block all the known malware. If you’re not sure which software to purchase, contact a Cyber Security Anbieter for recommendations.

9.      Encryption - It's common for employees to interact with one another and share sensitive information. To avoid a security breach, companies must make them install encryption tools on their devices. And if you're a start-up that cannot invest in such tools just look for applications and services that have an in-built end-to-end encryption feature or option.

10.  Locking of Devices - Every organization has multiple departments. Each department relies on different kinds of devices be it tablets, phones, or laptops. When working remotely, advise your employees to password-protect their devices. It should be a part of the remote working policy and must be followed by every member.

11.  Employee Training on Cybersecurity Methods: Your employees should know about cybersecurity and its methods such as phishing. It is the most commonly used tactic by hackers and your employees should know how to spot them. They should understand the difference between normal emails and suspicious emails. The company should also train them about the same and conduct sessions with examples to make them understand the concept better.

Aside from the above-mentioned Cyber Security Lösungen, every company should have an email/phone number dedicated to cybersecurity. Share them with the team members so they can report potential risks, suspicious activities, or problems when working remotely.
