Limitations of the CPM

Mainly used in repetitive projects and events. These projects allow engineers to have a clear roadmap about the procedure and timing of the activities. This way, the preparation of the CPM chart is easy and most effective. When it comes to R&D works and projects, it is not preferred.  

This method is quite rigid, with minimum possibility of changes. If there is any delay in the previous activity, then there are very few improvement opportunities. This delay can increase and nullify the usefulness of the method. This problem is resolved in the other theory PERT.
