Content Marketers Should Take a Page From Magazines

When it comes to marketing strategies and tactics, online content marketing is quite new. However, in Utah and across the country you don't have to look too far for a business that has done nothing except content marketing for its entire existence. For example, magazines have persuaded potential readers to subscribe by giving them the articles, stories and images they want before they even realize they want them. 


Be Unique With Your Content

When you consider what any publication does, be it news, magazine or book publisher, you realize that most of what they do is unique. The skilled writers and editors at these publications will spend their time coming up with an idea and then molding it into perfection. This method of thinking can often lead to marketing content that will produce more engagement from consumers. 

While it might be a little disconcerting to some business leaders and marketers, the digital age might require marketing efforts that reflect the best practices of journalism and publishing. From Utah to the West Coast this usually means that content production is bigger than the campaign efforts marketers are used to planning. The goal should be to win the consumers attention and then continue to produce impressive content that retains them.   


A Different Approach 

When marketers start to think like journalists and publishers, the first thing they should realize is that the rules have changed. Marketers need to understand that modern consumers are more interested in what's in it for them and less interested in ostentatious self-promotion. As a marketer, your content marketing needs to give your audience information they care about, give it often and produce it quickly. 

Finally, despite the need for producing the content quickly, it also needs to be top quality. In Utah and around the country, this means that the marketing team needs to cultivate ideas until they bloom. Don't be too quick to shoot down ideas; you never know what is going to give your company the breakthrough it needs.
