by Alex Murphy Fitness Trainer

Some petty body injuries are not very common while you get personal fitness training. However, you cannot totally avoid their occurrence too.

And just as you are prepared for the bad times, you need to be prepared to prevent the occurrence of all such injuries too.

Here is a list of some of the injuries that have a chance of occurrence, with how to avoid them during the workout:

·       Shin Splits:

You need to warm-up for a few minutes by jogging or sprinting before the fitness training. And when the people do it too hard, they may experience a pain near the shinbone (between knees & ankle).

Besides, this is also common in athletes, sprinters, and jumpers. To prevent this, you need to wear good shoes during your workout and resist trying too hard during the warmup session.

·       Strained Wrist:

Human wrists have a high degree of mobility. However, a heavy workout that uses immense wrist movement may lead to a strain. For instance, too many pushups or barbells curls etc. may often cause strained wrists.

But you can strengthen your wrists by focusing on wrist rotation exercises or wrist extension etc. to prevent such injuries.

·       Knee Pains:

According to the expert fitness trainers, there are various reasons to experience knee pains. For instance, extreme workouts, improper knee alignment while training, unreasonable repetition of exercises, picking heavy weights and lots of other reasons.

Therefore, it is important to get trained under a proficient personal trainer only and contact a healthcare specialist if the pain persists for too long.

·       Cuff Injury:

The activities which need a lot of shoulder mobility such as military presses, swimming, or throwing a heavy ball could lead to cuff strains and this is extremely prominent in occurrence as you age.

Thus, consult a good personal trainer to get age-appropriate training and avoid extreme shoulder workout without proper supervision.

·       Back Strain:

Back strains are highly common during the personal training and these occur due to a number of reasons. While some of them may be minor and recede in a few hours, others may persist for a number of days.

Therefore, ensure that you maintain a proper spine posture during your workout, never try beyond your limits, and practice only under an expert fitness trainer.

·       Ankle Sprain:

This is again a common injury that occurs due to ankle twists, posing too much pressure on a single ankle, running too much or landing on an incorrect foot posture.

To prevent this, ankle flexibility and rotational exercises are a must before your workouts and you need to take care of the safety precautions while you exercise, run on a treadmill or perform other activities.

·       Elbow Pain:

Tennis elbow or epicondylitis occurs if you use improper training methods or pick very heavy weights without practice. No wonder, this is a common injury among the weightlifters and gym-freaks.

And to prevent this, you ought to know the correct exercising techniques, with workouts only under an expert supervisor.

Workout injuries may or may not be serious. However, you are always required to know the correct techniques and get assistance for an expert fitness trainer only, whether you consult a personal trainer or a group fitness trainer.
