The construction of buildings or houses is a precise process that demands several points to pay attention to. A good building stands straight only if all the precautionary measures are taken in time. Buildings are built by keeping all the preventative aspects in mind because without ample measures, any devastating situation can occur. Electricity hazards are one of the major concerns that should be kept in mind while constructing a house or building. A home electric safety check is essential to ensure when a house is constructed before the residents start living because any slight overlook in electric connections can cause major damage.

There are several ways in which electricity hazards can occur within buildings and can be damaging to human health. These hazards are detailed in this article.

Electrical Fires

When too many appliances or devices are plugged into a circuit, it can cause a surge of electricity that can damage wiring or appliances and potentially start a fire. Electric fires can also be a result of the wiring in a building being damaged or not installed properly. A defective appliance when used can also be a cause of electric fire in the building. Overloading outlets or using extension cords improperly can lead to electrical fires as well.

Electrical Shock

This can occur when a person comes into contact with an electrical current, potentially resulting in serious injury or death. Naked wires or using an appliance or device that has frayed cords or is otherwise damaged can also increase the risk of electrical shock, rather it is one of the most common reasons for getting an electric shock. Water is an excellent conductor of electricity, so using electrical appliances or devices with wet hands can increase the risk of electrical shock. Repairing the electric wires should be carried out with extreme precautions to avoid any uncertain situation.

Electrical Burns

Electricity is very cruel and it can be very damaging to anyone. Electrical burns are burns that are caused by coming into contact with an electrical current. They can be caused by touching live electrical wires, using damaged electrical appliances or devices, or coming into contact with other sources of electrical current. Electrical burns can be particularly dangerous because they can cause damage to internal organs and tissues, as well as the skin. In some cases, electrical burns can lead to cardiac arrest or other serious complications.

Electrocution

This is a situation where a person comes into contact with an electrical current and is killed as a result. Naked wires, damaged appliances, and using electricity under damp conditions, are some typical reasons that cause electrocution. To prevent electrocution, it is important to use electrical appliances and devices safely, avoid using them with wet hands, and regularly inspect and maintain them. It is also a good idea to have ground fault circuit interrupters installed in areas where water is present, such as bathrooms and kitchens, to protect against electrical shock. If someone does experience an electrical injury, it is important to seek medical attention immediately.
