Tips for circular saw usage

Here are some tips that you can use while dealing with a circular saw,

  • Firstly, you need to ensure that you are buying a sturdy saw. Inspect the blades, handle, etc are intact. Check the power motor and see how it performs before you make the purchase.
  • Before you start your work, check the safety of the tool. Check if the guard of the lower blade retracts properly. Quickly check the condition of the power chord too so as to avoid leakages.
  • To get precise cuts on the materials you are using the saw on, get an understanding of the speeds at which the tool operates on each of the material. The softness or hardness of the material determines the way it takes the blade’s movements.
  • The blade’s performance is very important to get precise cuts. So every time you pick up the saw to work, check the teeth of the blade and see if it has broken edges. This will help you get the kind of cuts you want.
  • When you cut material, keep the side of the tool which has the motor towards the bigger piece which remains in place after cutting and doesn’t fall down.
  • Make use of saw tables or sawhorses to cut your material. Don’t use plain ground or slabs as support. This will ensure that your board gets cut properly and the underlying support will not get damaged.
  • When you are measuring your cut, firstly use a scale or a tape to mark the end of the cut you intend to make. You can then use a square tool to draw the line to the end mark. So, all you have to do is run the tool on this line.
  • After you have traced the path of your cut, you need to have a steady hand on the tool while it is cutting. Also, keep an eye on the base of the saw. The base needs to be placed straight on to the surface and keep the tool flat all through.

Most of all ensure that you have a design on paper before you get onto cutting boards. This design should not just comprise of the pattern but also the exact measurements. When you use such a written plan, your work will be precise and you will prevent any injuries from happening to you.
