Meet the pioneer of Indian children books

Mr.Anant Pai introduced children books in the form of comics named under ACK publications. His comics and short stories like Hindi panchatantra stories are revered still!

Uncle Pai as he is lovingly called began his journey with a purpose. He gave so many Children Story Books to make the Indian children aware of our India’s unique as well as rich cultural heritage.

Uncle Pai was shocked at one thing. It was about our ignorance of children. Indian students were aware about Greek & Roman mythology. However, they were ignorant about India’s rich historical culture and mythology. As a result, he published tales of Mahabharata in easy language for children to learn this epic phase of Indian history.

There was also a quiz contest aired by Doordarshan once. It happened in 1967. It was the month of February. There were different participants. They were easily able to answer questions referring to the Greek mythology. However, they were unable to answer questions relating to Ramayana like who was Rama's mother?" Hence, Uncle Pai created various comics, hindi panchatantra stories and stories for kids which have been pivotal for informing children about India’s rich cultural heritage
