Chennai Super Kings - Indian T20 League 2020 Fantasy Guide
by MyTeam11 Fantasy Sports App developerChennai Super Kings are the
second most successful side in Indian T20 League, winning the trophy 3 times
(2010, 2011, & 2018). The world’s most successful captain MS Dhoni is the
only captain who captained a single franchise in all seasons. Chennai will lock
horns against defending champions Mumbai Indians on September 19 in the
tournament opener. For the new season, they have included some quality players
and their side looks quite better but they also lost their top performers Raina
and Harbhajan who took their name due to personal reasons.
In today’s fantasy section, we
break Chennai Super Kings on a fantasy table. How we decode fantasy cricket

Fantasy slots
Opening
Players available - Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson, Murali Vijay
Our picks: Ambati Rayudu, Shane Watson
Chennai had no more confusion on
the opening slot as Dhoni would definitely give a nod over Rayudu and Watson
who had good numbers in the last two seasons. Watson is a big asset for the
Chennai but the performance matters a lot. He is the top-scorer for Chennai
since 2018 with 953 runs at an average of 30.74. If someone underperforms here,
we might see Faf as the opener in the second half of the tournament. Murali
Vijay is also a big option for Chennai in the opening slot.
Middle-order
Players available – Kedar Jadhav, Faf du Plessis, MS Dhoni, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Narayan
Jagadeesan
Our picks: Faf du Plessis, Kedar Jadhav
The middle-order might scare
Dhoni in the tournament after Raina’s unavailability. Faf needs to play the
sheet anchor at number three to carry the innings forward. He has a good
experience of T20 and has guided Chennai home in may crunch situations. Faf has
scored 558 runs in the last two seasons at an average of 34.88. Kedar Jadhav is
also useful and he can also take inspiration from his form for Chennai. Will
Dhoni promote himself up in the order? The captain can take this call as the
middle-order is not looking good without Raina.
Finishing slot
Players available - MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Sam Curran, Dwayne Bravo
Our picks: MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo
Chennai Super Kings has the
biggest finisher of the limited-overs cricket but how Dhoni score in the
tournament after the retirement will be a big question. He hasn’t been the part
of any competitive cricket after the World Cup 2019 but in yellow colors, the
captain is a threat to the opposition. Jadeja performed high at down-order and
he can accelerate the innings in death-overs. Along with Dhoni, Jadeja would be
a big finisher for Chennai this season. Dwayne Bravo has rescued Chennai with
his blistering performances and Chennai can relax when he is in his top
form.
Spinners
Players available - Mitchell Santner, R Sai Kishore, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja,
Piyush Chawla
Our picks: Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja, Piyush Chawla
UAE is a paradise for the
spinners and the team would try different options after the tournament progresses.
Imran Tahir and Piyush Chawla are the two most possible picks for Chennai in
these conditions. Jadeja also provides the bowling option along with batting
and his performance would be a key factor for Chennai. The spin department is
pretty effective compared to other teams. They also have Mithell Santner and
Sai Kishore in backup who can also play a vital role later in the
tournament.
Pacers
Players available - Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Sam Curran, Josh Hazlewood, Lungi
Ngidi, Dwayne Bravo, Shane Watson
Our picks: Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Dwayne Bravo
The Indian pace-attack has been
so consistent for Chennai but somehow, this is not the best part of Chennai.
They have some quality fast-bowlers in the backup but picking 4 overseas players
is creating big trouble for Dhoni. Bravo has been excellent in death-overs but
due to the injury, his bowling is not as good as we saw in the last couple of
years. They got Hazlewood and Sam Curran from the auction but they might be
seen later in the tournament. Lungi Ngidi has been outstanding with the new
ball and in death-overs. Ngidi will be seen after a few matches in place of any
overseas player.
