Cheap Holidays to Dubai Allow You to Enjoy Delicious Drinks

by Amanda Sutcliffe Travel Deals

The capital of the Dubai Emirate and the largest city in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dubai can be an ideal place to escape your hectic life and unwind amidst awe-inspiring surroundings. Upon seeing all the ultra-modern skyscrapers, malls, and theme parks of the city, you'll find it hard to believe that the city was once a sleepy little fishing village. However, despite this unbelievable transformation, it has managed to preserve its rich cultural heritage over the years. During your time spent in this Emirati city, you'll get the opportunity to enjoy some of the city's fabulous offerings. Among them are the refreshing drinks that are served in its restaurants, cafes, and several other places.

While enjoying your cheap holidays to Dubai, don't forget to savour the Arabic coffee, which is called 'gahwa'. You'll feel the rich and strong scent of this coffee as you pass the cafes while taking a stroll in one of the city's historic streets. Prepared using a variety of spices, such as cloves, cardamom, cumin, and saffron, this traditional drink symbolises the hospitality of the Emirati people. It is often served in the good old way, using the elegant Arabian coffee pot made of silver or gold, called 'dallah'. The drink is poured into small cups with no handles, known in this part of the world as 'finjaans'.

You'd also like to taste the 'karak chai', which has become immensely popular over a period of time in Dubai. The word 'karak' comes from the Hindi word 'kadak', which literally translates as 'strong'. You can have this spiced and refreshing drink at any cafe located in the city. It is a gift of the long-standing cultural and trade relations between India and the UAE. There are certain variations of this tea available in the city for those who wish to taste something different. Among them are the milkshakes sweetened by tea and dates.

One of the drinks that are commonly served during the holy month of Ramadan is 'Qamardeen', which is a delicious cold beverage prepared using a paste made with dried apricot. It is served in most of the homes of Arabs and is a great drink to share with friends or family members. You'll also find 'Jellab' very soothing, especially after spending some time in the hot temperatures outdoors. This is yet another famous Arabic drink prepared using a blend of rose water and grape molasses. It is often served with toppings of raisins and pine nuts.

Laban is also a well-known drink in this region and regularly features in diet plans, owing to its high protein content. It is a drink made using buttermilk, with blended dates, orange blossom water, and rosewater. This creamy and rich beverage is flavoured using spices, such as cardamom and saffron. Many of the modern cafes in the city use this drink in highly creative ways. Another cooling drink you can try while in Dubai is Ayran, which is prepared using yoghurt. It is iced and salted, resulting in a sour and tangy taste.
