A country’s development depends on its education. Education brings about an all-round development of a country; be it social or economic. CBSE has set excellent standards for education in our country. It was started back in the 1950’s and has developed into an extremely successful educational board in India.

The Central Board of Secondary Education has evolved remarkably in the past few years. It makes a sincere effort to impart a common education in our diverse country. Being the biggest board in India, it has always strived towards the development of the country by empowering the education system. It strongly believes in the notion that educated citizens are the key to a country’s success. CBSE aims to develop holistic individuals, instill values through an integrated curricular approach, innovations in teaching-learning methodologies by devising students friendly and students centered paradigms. CBSE believes in reforms in examinations and evaluation practices as per the time, skill learning by adding job-oriented teaching. It focuses on very high on skill development and not just content. It aims in getting children to know what to do with content. The CBSE board has also awakened to the need to train its teachers and impart modern day teaching practices to them to be in sync with the latest world.

The CBSE has been actively pioneering the process of reforms in school education. The greatest strength of the board has been the vision of its officials and the widespread cooperation of its vast network of affiliated schools. Apart from board examinations, the CBSE has been conducting various professional examinations, such as the National Eligibility Test on behalf of the UGC. One of the larger aims of education is to prepare citizens with values necessary for a democratic and globalized society. CBSE makes efforts to disseminate the benefits of the latest educational research to the common masses in a practical and cost-effective manner. The textbooks that CBSE designs are efficient not only for the school students but, are useful for the important competitive examinations such as civil services etc. They are easy to understand and impart great knowledge; for example the study material for class 8 and such are very easy to understand and grasp. It has also introduced e-books for all the subjects that can be accessed anywhere.

Relevant social concerns, like concern for people with special needs, issue of gender discrimination, energy and environmental issues are a part and parcel of the book. CBSE has continued to do wonders for students over the years across the nation and abroad as well. The skill based approach makes the citizens efficient and ready for the jobs. It keeps them updated with the latest changes and advancements in the world around them. It produces educated pupils who are well aware of the socio-economic scenario of the country and are capable to work towards its growth and success.
