Can Hypnotherapy help with Panic Attacks and Anxiety?
by CYV Industries Online Marketing ConsultancyMany individuals wonder if hypnotherapy has the ability to help with panic attacks and anxiety. According to a recent study, approximately 40 million individuals ranging in ages from 18 to 54 in the United States alone suffer from an anxiety disorder. In another study that outlined the economic based burdens of these disorders in the United States, it was established that these illnesses result in a financial loss of over $42 billion dollars annually. Individuals that suffer from panic attacks and anxiety typically spend thousands of dollars each and every single year seeking medical treatment for their conditions.
However, in a surprising twist,
those that receive hypnotherapy typically do not incur large expenses due to
panic attacks and anxiety because of the fact that this form of therapy teaches
them how to effectively control the troublesome physiological and psychological
symptoms that accompany their condition.
What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a form of
therapy that is used to assist individuals in reaching what is considered to be
a heightened level of awareness. Many refer to this heightened state as a
“Trance”. There are many techniques that are utilized to reach this state.
Examples of these techniques include guided relaxation exercises, intense
levels of concentration and focusing the attention span. The ultimate goal of
the therapy is to ensure that all environmental distractions and mental
distractions are effectively blocked so that the participant is able to focus
on the instructions and/or tasks issued to them by the trained professional,
who is referred to as a “Hypnotherapist”.
How is Hypnotherapy Effective for Panic Attacks and Anxiety?
Hypnotherapists assist the
patients that suffer from panic attacks and anxiety in numerous ways. In
addition to assisting them in reaching heightened levels of awareness, many of
the therapists also use psychotherapy. In general terms, this is counselling
and/or general therapy. It is quite common for patients to find that they
experience troublesome thoughts, unbearable emotions and memories that have
been blocked from their conscious mind while undergoing hypnotherapy.
Psychotherapy assists in helping patients overcoming these thoughts, feelings
and memories. In most instances, it has been established that deep-rooted
issues are the cause for the anxiety and panic attacks that patients are troubled
by on a regular basis.
There are two main types of
psychotherapy that may be utilized in conjunction with hypnotherapy in order to
successfully treat anxiety and panic attacks. They are as follows:
Suggestion Therapy – This form of hypnotherapy puts the patient in
a state that results in their being more responsive to suggestions made by the
therapist.
Analysis – This is a
special approach used by hypnotherapists to uncover the root cause of the panic
attacks and anxiety that a patient is experiencing.
Conclusion
Can hypnotherapy help with panic attacks and anxiety? In short, the answer is a simple “Yes”. When a patient is in the hypnotic state, it has been found that they are more likely to openly discuss the issues that they experience with their anxiety disorder. Based on the revelations of the discussion, the professional therapist conducting the session may then make powerful suggestions that become deeply rooted in the subconscious mind and result in positive, productive conscious behaviours. If you find that you are troubled by the uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety and stress, you will find that you will greatly benefit from the use of hypnotherapy to assist in reducing the complications.
