Bully Scholarship Edition: Video Game Review

by Joseph Nicholls guitarist

Bully Scholarship Edition was just recently released for PC (October 20, 2008) and I had really high expectations for it. You see games where you're the character and it's role playing sound pretty fun and adventurous to people like me.

Your character in the game is a bully, and you are in a new school and environment due to the fact that you've got kicked out of many schools for misbehaving. In this new school you have to build a reputation for yourself, so that you can earn peoples' respect and become a bully. The gameplay is set in a way that your character's personality shapes around the decisions and choices you make throughout the game. I thought that was a nice unique feature.

In the game some of your choices can range from skipping class and beating people up or attending class and learning new abilities. Both of those choices for example would you give some sort of an ability or an award. It all comes down to the player and how they want to go about the game. You either want to earn respect by taking the smart route or you can be a pure bad attitude brat. This is up to you.

The gameplay was pretty good, and most of the dialogue was pretty funny. It was particularly funny when the protagnoist knocked up that teenager. The graphics and character images were decent. Not too much to complain about in that department. The voice and songs used throughout the game were good in the fact that it made the game more user friendly and interactive. There was also a lot of detail in the environment of the game ranging from the school itself to the areas outside as well.

Some bad parts were the glitches and some tedious missions in some levels. I think there was something wrong with the code programming or bugs because sometimes it felt like as if the game froze or stood still where your character didn't move. This wasn't just for my game because my cousin reported similar problems as well. Bully Scholarship Edition for the PC I heard is harder to play with because the keyword of the computer makes it not as fun. My cousin had the one for xbox and the controller's were more user friendly.

The PC version has a lot of technical difficulties, and at some points it was so bad that I had to uninstall the game and reinstall it. This meant that I had to start from scratch again.

Overall, Bully Scholarship Edition for PC was a decently good game as far as gameplay went, however, there were many bugs and things out of place that the company and developers should have worked on before releasing it to the mass public. Overall, I think I would have to give it a 5/10 as rating.
