Captain
Atom, who seems to be the current leader of the Justice League, alerts
them that someone is attacking the United Nations. Wonder Girl and
Batgirl are the first on the scene, where they find Lobo trying to kill
the Secretary General.
They fail to stop him, but when he pulls
the SG apart (it's pretty disgusting) it's revealed that he's a
Krolotean in disguise, a la the tiny aliens in "Men in Black". Lobo
escapes, and we discover the Kroloteans are coming from the planet Rann.
The League are all outlaws on Rann, because of something Superman,
Batman, Wonder Woman, Hawkwoman, John Stewart, and Martian Manhunter did
there five years ago, while they were under Vandal Savage's control.
Nightwing, the new team leader, sends Miss Martian, Superboy, Beast Boy,
and Adam Strange (who told them all about the Kroloteans) to stop the
aliens on Rann.
Meanwhile, the League and the rest of the team
attack the Kroloteans on earth, with rookies Blue Beetle, Lagoon Boy,
and Robin being sent to the least dangerous location. Nightwing puts
Robin in charge, natch. It turns out to be more than they expected, and
Tim has to show off his leadership skills while the three battle a small
army of Kroloteans, who seem to be terrified of Blue Beetle.
The time jump is a daring move on Weisman and Vietti’s part, and I’m not
sure about its purpose. We get a lot of new characters in a short time,
but it also creates a huge emotional disconnect with the viewers.

DC has always been well known for making fantastic children's cartoons
that can be aimed for the hardcore adult fans as-well, bringing nothing
but top-notch shows. However, in recent years, it seems that the quality
of DC cartoons have dropped. The two main shows that come to mind are
"The Batman", a terrible show which is clearly aimed at the younger
audience, and "Batman: The brave and bold", A decent cartoon that isn't
on par with classic DC cartoons.
However, this cartoon has
brought back the best parts of the best DC cartoons and combined them
into one. The "Justice League" series was fantastic, but as the series
went on it was clear that each episode focused on the development of
particular characters (Especially in JL: Unlimited) which did not have
an ultimate affect in the series. episode was a one-off that usually
didn't require viewing of the previous or next episode.
Young
Justice saw this, and tried to do something new. Firstly, it made sure
that the team stays small, like the early days of the Justice League, so
that it could make these characters actually important to the plot
lines. Secondly, it made each episode a one-off adventure that tied to a
single string plot that brought each episode together.
