by Mary Frost web designer
Using Agile project management methods can increase the productivity of any organisation and continues to gain popularity. In order to fully benefit of the great opportunities gained through the correct use of Agile Scrum methods and ideas, effective training is essential. Training must be delivered by a Certified Scrum Trainer.

There are now several excellent training providers in the United Kingdom, who offer a two-day Certified Scrum Master training. The course is suited to anyone involved in working with Scrum, in any role within an organisation and is suitable for complete beginners as well as those who already have some personal experience of working with Scrum who wish to develop their current knowledge. Through practical training used on this course, individuals learn how to get the most from Scrum and develop a proper understanding of its principles. With hands on practical experience of a variety of Scrum tools, meetings, charts and sprints, people learn exactly how Scrum can be successfully applied and utilised.

During training, all of the key roles such as Product Owner, Scrum master and Team are looked at and compared with the key roles used in traditional project management models. Other elements of the training look in greater detail at the various Scrum artefacts, such as the product backlog, sprint backlog and the relevance of the burndown chart. Following the two-day training, course candidates are required to pass an online, multiple-choice test through the Scrum Alliance to pass and gain their Certified Scrum Master Training qualification.

In total, there are 35 questions and you must get 24 correct to pass, or you can retake the test once for free. If you need to retake again after this, you will be required to pay a fee. Assuming you are focussed during the two day training you shouldn't have any difficulty in achieving a score of 24, but complete newcomers to Agile Scrum will benefit from some research before taking the training in addition to the pre course material that is provided to all course candidates.

Everyone who passes will be recognised by the Scrum Alliance as a Certified Scrum Master and gain a two years Alliance membership.

Staff who have trained as a Certified Scrum Master are a fantastic asset for any organisation. Sending staff on this highly regarded training is a cost effective investment. The knowledge of Agile Scrum that is obtained during training enables people to use Scrum in a highly professional way and get great results.
