Intelligent Driving

Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go provides you with effective support at all times. It uses radar sensors that scan your car’s speed and maintains a safe distance from the vehicle ahead. In case you apply the brakes sharply, the approach control warning sends an alert, letting you enjoy a safe drive in every situation.

To support the driver in monotonous traffic situations, the Steering and Lane Control Assistant incl. Traffic Jam Assistant in your BMW ConnectedDrive can be activated. The system keeps your BMW 3 Series model in the centre of the lane and conveniently supports steering at speeds of up to 210 km/h. It is a milestone in highly automated driving, though the driver is still required to put both hands on the wheel.

When the automatic driving mode is not activated, the Lane Keeping Assistant with active side collision protection lends support to the driver. The system intervenes and assists the driver to avoid leaving the lane or colliding with other vehicles or objects.

The Lane Departure Warning is another feature in your new BMW car to keep you safe on the road. It registers lane markings beyond a speed of 70 km/h and at a distance of 50 m. In case you drive over the lane markings, the system warns you by vibrating the steering wheel, thereby avoiding accidents.

Safety When on the Move

The safety package Driving Assistant lets you enjoy a maximum level of safety. The system includes Speed Limit Info, Lane Departure Warning, Crossing traffic warning rear and Rear collision prevention.

There is a preventive passenger protection system in BMW ConnectedDrive - Active Protection. It alerts the driver if it detects the windows and sliding roof are closed, safety belts are pretensioned and electric seats are returned to upright positions.

With innovative vision assistant in BMW ConnectedDrive, you get the best possible visibility both day and night. With Side View, you can keep an eye on everything even at blind junctions or exits, thanks to the two cameras built into the front wheel arches.

BMW Night Vision is a revolution in safe driving at night. The system recognizes people and larger animals in the dark from a significant distance in thermal imaging and projects them in the BMW Head-Up Display. BMW selective beam provides excellent visibility in the dark, making night-time driving safer.
