Kehinde Wiley, a New York-based visual artist is focused on art history's portrait painting tradition. Initially, Wiley's portraits were supported by images taken of young men found on the streets of Harlem. Kehinde Wiley received his MFA from Yale in 2001. Shortly when, he became an Artist-in-Residence at the Studio  in Harlem. Wiley’s work has been the topic of exhibitions worldwide and is within the permanent collections of various museums together with the Metropolitan repository of Art, New York; the Studio repository in Harlem; the capital of Colorado Art Museum; the l.  a. County Museum of Art; The Hammer Museum, Los Angeles; the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; the High repository, Atlanta; the Columbus repository of Art; the Phoenix Art repository; the metropolis Art Museum; the individual Museum, New York; and therefore the borough Museum, New York. In 2015, Wiley was the topic of a solo exhibition at the borough repository in NY, entitled a replacement Republic, currently travelling and presently viewing at The Toledo repository of creation in Toledo, Ohio.
