BHEL and Power Grid in the list for the Solar Power Plant set-up
PSUs along with Power Grid and BHEL have been included, in the upcoming 4000 MW solar power plant that is going to be set-up in Rajasthan, Sambhar Lake. Praful Patel Heavy Industries Minister announced this single location green field solar power plant being as the largest.
As many as six state owned Public Sector Enterprises signed an agreement related to the solar power plant project that is going to be executed in Rajasthan, near Sambhar Lake. The list also includes Heavy Industries giants like Power Grid and BHEL. On the other hand, Praful Patel Heavy Industries Minister mentioned that the project shall move into its following phase, only after it gets a green flag from the Cabinet Minters. As per the project, it will spread across an area of 19000 acres at Sambhar in Rajasthan. The Chairman and the Managing Director of BHEL, Mr. Rao should that the company would be investing a huge amount for this project. However, the whole project has been divided amongst 6 companies, as it is supposed to be a joint venture. The shares of each company, in this project, have been listed below. The JV Company will have equity participation of 26 percent from BHEL, 23 percent from SECI (Solar Energy Corporation of India), 16 percent from SSL (Sambhar Salt Ltd), 16 percent from Power Grid, 16 percent from SJVNL (Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam) and 3 percent from REIL (Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited).
According to news reports, the project will come up on surplus land available with SSL in Sambhar, Rajasthan. The equipment will be supplied by BHEL, power evacuation by Power Grid, sale of electricity by SECI, operation & maintenance by REIL and project management by SJVNL. Praful Patel’s contributions towards this project shall come in handy. With tons of Industry experience under his belt, Patel has already taken the Heavy Industries to greater heights of success. This project is in fact the largest solar power plant that the world has ever seen until date. It is an achievement that most countries will take inspiration from, in the years to come.
The 1000 MW will be completed in three years time. The following phase of the project shall be developed in the next 7 to 8 years. This photo-voltaic power plant shall also make optimum use of the PV based that is thoroughly based on the Crystalline silicon Technology. With an estimated plant life of 25 years, the 4,000 MW of the solar plant is expected to supply 6,400 million units of energy per year and consequently help to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 4 million tonnes per year.
