Organisations are a formed to achieve certain purpose, this purpose can be
either profit oriented or non-profit oriented. Irrespective of its purpose, or
objective an organisation cannot exist without people having certain roles and
responsibility and in order to work in a direction it is important that there
should be certain organisations structure which helps in formalizing entire
functionality of an organisation.
All the human beings are very different from each
other and it is not an easy task to easy human beings in the organizations.
There is a dedicated department called hum resource department in all the big
organizations to deal with problems related to employees. Study of human
behaviour in the organizations is called organizational behaviour. It also
behaves as an interface between human behaviour and the organization (Davis,
1989). Employees need to be aligned with the goals and objectives of the
organization. There are various other elements which are related to the
organizational behaviour. Organization structure and culture helps a lot in
changing the behaviour of the employees in various situations it is also an part of Business plan. Managers and the
leadership style followed by the managers also decide the behaviour of the
employees in a team. Ultimate target of any organization is customer
satisfaction and better profits and this can be achieved only if the employees
are satisfied and happy. Team building skills are very important. Employees
have to work in a team for the success of the organization. Employees can be
made happy and satisfied by motivating and encouraging them and this can be
done by giving awards and rewards to the employees for better performance.
The other organizational culture followed
by the organizations is adhocracy culture. In this culture managers order the
employees working under them and they sometimes use threatening as a way to
motivate employees. It might lead to increase in the revenue for the
organization but employee will not stay motivated. Attrition rate will be
higher in this culture.
There is a huge difference in the traditional
leadership style and holacracy which Zappos is planning to implement in the
organization. Employees will not have any flexibility in traditional leadership
style. Employees are not allowed to put forward new ideas and they have to work
according to the orders given by the seniors in the hierarchy. This type of
style lacks innovation ideas from the employees. Directive leadership style can
also be considered as traditional leadership style. Employees are not much
motivated. Employees just had to finish their roles and responsibilities in
time without looking anywhere.
