Jammu and Kashmir is the northernmost state in the country India and one of the most beautiful. Jammu is known as the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir is one of the best places to go on a trekking adventure.  There are numerous trekking spots in Jammu that are frequently visited by the travelers at various times of the year. Jammu has trekking routes suitable for all kinds of people and staying at hotels in Katra is the best option to easily be accessible to all these places. Here are the best trekking destinations in Jammu:

1. The Trek to Goddess Vaishno Devi
The shrine of Vaishno Devi is one of the most famous and important religious places in India. It is visited by thousands of tourists and pilgrims all throughout the year. The trek is easy and can be completed in one day. 

2. Experience the Nature at Patni top
If you want to take a walk amongst the thick and tall pine trees, Patni Top is the trekking destination to visit. The way to the Patni top is beautiful but the view from the top compensates for all the hard work.   

You can see the magnificent Himalayas covered in snow once you reach the top of the mountain.

3. Camp at The Mesmerizing Sanasar
Sanasar is not a very famous hill station in Jammu. However, the place is perfect for trekking and camping. This is the perfect destination for all the people who want to camp and stay at the trekking spot for a few days. You can also participate in various activities such as abseiling,  paragliding, rock climbing and much more.

4. Trek from Kishtawar to Srinagar
Another famous trek in Jammu is the treck from Kishtawar to Srinagar. This is a  5-6 days trek and you will pass through Dadhpeth, Banderkot, Chhatru,  Daksum and many more small villages to reach your destination. This is one of the most demanding treks and should only be attempted by fit people.

5. Bask in The Beauty of Gulmarg
Gulmarg has been known for its natural beauty and has been the center of attracting for decades. The place is surrounded by snow-capped mountains and tall pine trees. You can also indulge in many adventure activities here.

6. Mansar Lake is a Must Visit
This is an extremely beautiful lake that makes the perfect destination for a  trek. This makes for a perfect resting spot after a tiring day. Stay at a hotel in Jammu near railway station and visit the Mansar Lake for sure when in Jammu.

7. Gulbarga to Machail Mata
Gulbarga to Machail Mata is a 2-day trek and yet another opportunity to explore the beauty of Jammu. Machail Mata is one of the most famous shrines and is considered extremely auspicious by the locals and Hindus.

While going for a trek in Jammu, you might need your trekking equipment.  However, they can also be borrowed or rented at various stores nearby.  Additionally, it is important to know your physical fitness before attempting any trek in the Jammu area. Although the tracks are not as strenuous as the other places, you still have to walk for long distances in cold temperatures. Keep all the necessities with you.
