Best time to Visit Tibet and Nepal

by John Mike Employee

The best time for visiting Tibet is normally from April to the month of November. But yes it also depends on that which places you want to visit in Tibet. Lhasa, Tsedang, Gyantse, Shigatse and Nyingchi are some of the lower altitude places which can be visited anytime during the year. The climate is mild with no extreme cold or hot though it is biting cold in the month of December to March. If you plan to visit Tibet during this time, you’ll see less of tourists and therefore the accommodation and other prices will also be comparatively lower. Plan a Tibet Tour during this season and get chance to see the grand Mt. Everest very clearly.

If you are a tracker and planning a Tibet Tour in the months of July and August, that it may not be the right choice. While it is a perfect choice for those who are looking forward to visit Tibet only for sightseeing as during this time it rains heavily in region. In fact, the regions receive nearly 50% of the rainfall during the months of July and August.

Want to enjoy a lovely weather, it is better you visit Tibet in the months of April, October and November. As during this time of the year you get to see a dazzling clear weather and you can enjoy sightseeing and other things even in lower altitude places.

If you desire to eyeball the beauty of grasslands in northern Tibet, visit the place during July when flowers are in full bloom and you can also confront groups of sheep and yak. You can also see Tibetan nomads living in tents all over the vast grasslands.

Acquainting yourself with some weather restrictions is always better while planning a Tibet Tour so that you can enjoy to the core. Given below are some of them:

1)    The Everest Region: The Lhasa-Everest-Lhasa tour can be availed throughout the year but the Lhasa-Everest-Kathmandu overland tour is impossible in months of Jan and Feb.

2)    Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarover and the Northern Tibet: This tour is generally not possible during the months of December to March.

3)    Eastern Tibet: It is suggested not to travel Sichuan-Tibet Highway during the rainy seasons of July and August.

Besides preparing yourself for adjusting to climatic conditions you should also consider other things while planning a tour to Tibet. Always carry some lotions and gels to protect you against sun radiation and a considerable temperature difference between day and night.
