The park was completed in 1990 and since then has been one of the most popular parks for the locals as well as the visitors. From offering spectacular views of Charleston Harbor, the old fashioned benches, the family-sized swings are one of the greatest places to relax from the hustle and bustle of the city and for great picnic events with families. Fort Sumter

Fort Sumter is a sea fort built upon an artificial island that protects Charleston in South Carolina. Fort Sumpter was built around 1812 when the Battle of Fort Sumter began when Washington was invaded by the British via sea.  During the ongoing war, the fort was severely damaged and left to ruin.  Since the 20th century, the fort has remained open to the public as part of the fort and Fort Moultrie National Historic Park. Fort Sumter has been named after General Thomas Sumter who was a Revolutionary Hero and built the fort as one of a series of fortifications to protect the American Harbor from foreign invasions. The fort has been built right at the heart of the island with natural shelter.  Although it remains incomplete the fort was built for 650men and 135 guns in 3 tier gun emplacements. Today the Visitor Education Centres museum exhibits about activities of the fort, its construction, and its significant contribution during the Civil War.
