Best British Schools in Sharjah

by Chloe C. Influencer

Sharjah is UAE’s second largest city, after Dubai with the population of over 1.4 million. In the west of Sharjah, we have Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman on the east, which makes Sharjah the hub of humanity and industry. It is also known as the cultural capital of the UAE. Sharjah contributes 7.4% in the GDP of UAE.

With the increasing number of British people settling in Sharjah, British schools in Sharjah are getting more and more popular because of which quite a number of the schools in Sharjah follow the British curriculum.

The schools in the city follow different curriculums from American to German and everything in between.

Many schools in Sharjah are affiliated either with BSO, BSME or CIS. If we talk about BSO/BSME inspection reports then both of them are comprehensive and illuminating reports. They measure the schools against a set of UK standards. These reports allow the parents to see exactly what they are getting from the school and are able to measure the school against others, both overseas and in the UK itself.

Only Sharjah English School has a current BSO inspection report.

There is a famous site called Whichschooladvisor.com, which is basically about the reviews and comments of the parents on schools and their services. Whichschooladvisor.com visits every school that they want to cover and makes the most comprehensive list of British Schools in Sharjah. Included in the school details are the seats available, fees facilities, exam results, the Ministry of Education inspection summary plus their impressions of the schools. To get into these high quality schools the children should have good skills, and hiring a private tutor can help in this regard.

To be more specific in their quality Sharjah Education Authority carries out its own school inspections and these take place once every three years. The inspection was completed in 2013/14 and many of the reports are available on line. There is an option of parent rating on WhichSchoolAdvisor.com. And the school needs to score 3.0 or above to make it into the Parent Recommended Best Schools list. If a school scores below 3.0 it means that the school might be admired because of its reputation or from word of mouth but there are some areas with question marks. And if the score is above 3.0 or above 3.5 it means that the school is highly admired by the parents because of its leadership and vision.

If the school you are interested in is not there in the list it means that its score is below 3.0 or yet has to receive sufficient surveys.
