Benefits of Using Vitrified Tiles

by Sakar Granito (India) Private Limited Tile Manufacturer & Exporter
Vitrified tile is a non-porous ceramic tile made by hydraulic pressing a mixture of clay, silica, quartz, and feldspar. It is commonly used for flooring as an alternative to marble and granite flooring. Vitrified tiles are available in a wide variety of designs and colors.

Various types of vitrified tiles
Vitrified tiles are made up of quartz, silica, clay, and feldspar. These substances are combined together using the process of vitrification in a hydraulic press.

Vitrified tiles are classified into various types based on their manufacturing process. Following are the most popular types of vitrified tiles:

1. Double Charged Vitrified Tiles
In this process, two kinds of color are fed into the machine resulting in a very thick layer of a double colored design on the surface of the tile. This layer of color and design is around 3-4mm thick. These tiles are suitable for high traffic areas like offices, public, etc. There are a number of double charge vitrified tile manufacturers in Morbi, Gujarat.

2. Full Body Vitrified Tiles
For making full body vitrified tiles, the color is not only applied on the top but is also allowed to flow through the whole tile. Because of this, the scratches on the tiles become invisible as the slab is homogeneous and colored throughout the body. Full body vitrified tiles are perfect for heavy foot traffic areas.

3. Soluble Salt Vitrified Tiles
For making soluble Vitrified tiles, liquid color screen printing is done on the tile before the tile is transferred to the kiln. Soluble salts are used to enter into the vitrified tile and create patterns and colored designs on the tile.

4. Glazed Body Vitrified Tile
Glazed body vitrified tiles are tiles that have a finishing coating of liquid glass on the surface. The vitreous body adds extra shine to the tile and protects the flooring from any types of stains.

Advantages of using Vitrified Tiles
  • The process of vitrification is used to form vitrified tiles making it a very strong and homogeneous material. Clay is combined with feldspar and quartz, all the materials change into a hot molten liquid glass slate and then solidify to make vitrified tiles a hardened material.
  • Vitrified tiles are scratch and stain resistant.
  • These tiles can be used for both indoor and outdoor application. In the indoors, they can be used in residential flooring, as wall tiles in kitchen and bathrooms. They are highly suitable for outdoor areas that register heavy foot traffic.
  • They have a consistent design, pattern, and texture.
  • Vitrified tiles are easy to install and can be maintained with ease.
