Baby’s Gender Selection --Having a Choice

Ever since the pregnancy test results are positive; parents and the families are inquisitive on knowing the baby’s gender. While some have their preferences plainly based on their likability towards the particular gender, for others it may be a feudal war in the household as it is assumed fairly and largely by the so called community that a male offspring might bring all the good deeds to the family as compared to a girl child who is considered to be nothing more than a mere burden.

In many a countries it is prohibited for the doctors to clear the air in the parent’s mind regarding the sex selection of the baby and might even be considered illegal ; because on knowing the sex of the baby  if the results aren’t in favor of their desires ,the mother might even be forced to abort her child and the families are often found seeking advice from the doctors on “how to get pregnant with a boy” and the poor woman is dragged into all sorts of physical and sexual tortures in bearing a male child.

This simple test may have adverse or extreme effects as well which gives rise to a number of social pathos that includes killing the girl child once the mother gives birth to her. Various women are found to be catering to weird methodology in order to conceive a male child.

However, there is room for enough negotiation if knowing the child’s sex is considered ethical or not. Where there was once a surprise element hidden with knowing whether it would be a girl or boy modern technology seems to have killed the little adventure associated with the same.

Impatience seems to have become the mantra of today’s generation and waiting for 9 months to know the gender of the baby seems explicitly impossible.

But, this may even be considered positive as it helps the parents to prepare for everything that their baby might need. All parents want is a balanced family today and knowing the gender of the child beforehand seems to be the solution to it and helps them plan better. But it should be kept in mind that this inquisitiveness should be confined to one’s knowledge and not adhere to any form of malpractices in reference to the woman’s pregnancy.

The agony of a woman on knowing its child’s sex beforehand is alarming ,particularly in countries like India and China where it is not prohibited by the law to disclose the results because in its rural counterparts due to illiteracy ,sometimes the women are even set on fire while the girl child is still inside the mother’s womb.

Its time we wake up from our long lost slumber and start to respect this incredible and the most beautiful stage of one’s life and be equally joyous and grateful on the birth of a girl child. It’s our conception in our narrow and shallow minds that think that the girls are weak just give them a little dose of appreciation, respect and love and they would take on the world hands down and then on that one day even the lawmakers wouldn’t stop us from knowing the baby’s gender beforehand.
