Centrifugation of the sperm makes it possible to distinguish between azoospermia which is a true absence of sperm and cryptozoospermia which is a situation where there are only a few rare sperm in the semen.

The infertility of the couple is of male origin in 20% of the cases and mixed in 40% of the cases. Men are therefore at least partially responsible for infertility in 60% of cases.
