They most likely brought samples of their aggregates (the sand and stone that goes into the mix), portland cement (by the way portland cement is the powder that gets mixed with the other ingredients to make concrete) and additives (chemicals), to a certified lab. There all of the ingredients are analyzed and proportioned. They are then made into concrete mix designs that will show the ready mix company the most dependable way to make their mix for commercial and residential concrete.
