Assessment And Treatment For Bladder Irregularity

by Richa Pattanaik Blogger

According to Roger Goldberg, the M.D. director of urogynecology research at the University of Chicago NorthShore University Health System, “an uneventful pregnancy and delivery change the urinary control in women by up to 50 per cent. That being said, women who deliver vaginally are more likely to experience bladder leakage one year postpartum.

Bladder incontinence occurs for various reasons. One of the most common reasons for the bladder leakage is pregnant women producing hormones that stretch the bladder, bowel, and uterus muscles and tissues. These muscles and tissues located at the pelvic floor leave the pelvis pulled for some time, causing the bladder to leak. The involuntary leakage of urine causes a lot of embarrassment in women. Luckily there are treatments for bladder incontinence. Let’s discuss in detail some of the ways through which bladder incontinence can be prevented.

Women experiencing bladder incontinence often opt for bladder leakage products like bladder liners and incontinence pads. Here are a few treatments available for women to permanently resolve bladder Incontinence.

Treatment Of Bladder Incontinence

Urinary Incontinence can be treated, but the treatment can differ from person to person based on their age, health, and mental state.

Pelvic Exercise: Practicing kegel exercises helps strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and the urinary sphincter preventing urinary Incontinence.

Bladder Training

Women are trained to control their urge to urinate frequently. Here are a few methods with which women are prepared to prevent or delay their urge to urinate:

Double Voiding: Double Voiding is a technique to empty the bladder. In this method, doctors recommend women to urinate and then wait for a few minutes and then urinate again. This method of urinating makes sure the bladder is empty to prevent incontinence problems.

Setting Toilet Timetable: Scheduling bathroom timing at set intervals during the day. Example setting the time at every hour.

Bladder training facilitates patients to regain control over their bladder.

Medical Devices For Urinary Incontinence:

Some women face problems even after practicing kegel and bladder training exercises. Here are devices doctors recommend to women experiencing bladder leakage

Pessary: Pessary is a rigid ring worn inside the vagina for a whole day to prevent bladder leakage.

Urethral Inserts: Urethral Inserts are implanted within the vagina before the activity and are taken out when women want to urinate.

Radiofrequency Therapy: Women are given Radiofrequency therapy into their lower urinary tract tissue. This therapy makes the tissues firmer, further preventing women’s urge to urinate.

Bulking Agents: The bulking agents are inserted into tissues located around the urethra. These agents block the urethra, preventing involuntary leakage of the pelvis.

Women who do not wish to insert devices into their vagina for bladder incontinence may opt for bladder leakage products. Bladder liners and women’s incontinence panties are some frequently recommended products for bladder incontinence. These products prevent women from facing embarrassments due to involuntary leakage of the urine.
