In a corporation, there are some areas in social media marketing that is best handled in the local branch or the franchisee end.  It is because the effect is easily felt in the social media for franchises local level.

Monitoring - The corporate office is responsible for handling customers concerns and taking care of any potential problems that may occur.  However, local branches, has also capability to monitor and even engage the customers in the local level.  Being near the customers concern, they are capable of feeling their interests and concerns and share it to the main office.

Building a more closed consumer relation -  Local branches are capable of knowing the customers service, interests, concerns and many more.  It is because they are closely in interaction with the people.

Making a more customize content - Being in the vicinity, you will able to make better contents that adhere to the customer’s best interest.  This localized content will in effect drive the site more customers and in turn will bring the whole corporation the profit.

Since guidelines are very important component, to make a local social media presence, here some important things to remember.

Customer support - The guidelines must contain the limitations on the local branch, when it comes to social customer support.  It must be specific, so that the local managers will know how far they can go.

Dealing with influencers -  The rules in dealing with product influencers must be defined clearly.  This will run in harmony with the corporate own effort.

Visual Presentation - Another important factor is creating a clear guideline on what are the things to be posted visually or what are the allowed visual contents.

Handling Crisis - Social media marketing always involved interaction with audiences.  Should problems arise, who will handle the crisis management?  There should be a clear guideline on this.  What problems will be handled by the local branch and what problems are to be handled by the corporate office only?

Proper using of companies logos, websites and even images - These are factors that cannot be put in the sidelines.  They can hurt the corporation in many ways, if mishandled.

Guidelines on social media tools that managers will use -  Managers must used any automation and management tools, in accordance with the companies policies.
