My Hero Academia enjoys a cult following in the anime genre. It has been a huge hit ever since its telecast in 2016. With the fifth season in the making, the fans currently await with bated breath for more action. But there is still time. The fifth season won’t be coming soon since there have been delays in production this year. It is expected that the fifth season of the show won’t be back until 2021.

It is no doubt that the delays are depressing. But, In the meantime, there are many shows that My Hero Academia fans can try out. Here is a list of anime that people who love My Hero Academia can watch.

Naruto

The most obvious no-brainer recommendation for My Hero Academia fans is  Naruto. Naruto is a story of a young ninja seeking accreditation of his peers in his pursuit of becoming a Hokage. Naruto is not a new anime. The more than a decade old show has withstood the test of time and proved its worth.

Naruto is the story of a young boy in pursuit of dreams. He is reckless and undaunted in all scenarios and relentlessly pursues greatness. Any My Hero Academia fan will be able to already find some parallels in the struggle of Naruto and Izuku Modoriya. Izuku too had to prove himself in front of his peers while confronting all sorts of problems in order to achieve his dream of becoming the World’s greatest hero. So, the fans will be able to relate with the struggles of Naruto as they go through his journey of chasing the seemingly impossible dreams.

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood

Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is a story of two young alchemists, Alphonse and Edward Elric. The Elric brothers try resurrecting their mother by human transmutation. As human transmutation is forbidden in the world of alchemy, they end of losing either their body part, in case of Edward his hand or entire body, as in the case of Alphonse.

The brothers then set on a long journey to get their bodies back. They face various obstacles along the way and end up becoming better human beings and alchemists. The show will ring a bell in My Academy Hero fans as they will witness the various physical, as well as psychological traumas, unfold for the Elric brothers. The 9.1 Imdb rated show is a must-watch.

One-Punch Man

Saitama, a superhero who has trained himself so much that he is able to defeat any of his adversaries with just one punch. Thus, being nicknamed One-Punch Man in the process. Saitama faces a weird problem. As he can beat all his enemies with just one punch he is bored. He ends up joining the Hero Association which was started by a Millionaire. To fight off the monsters and villains terrorizing the supercontinent Earth.

Saitama’s journey is encapsulated in 36 episodes with each having a run-time of 24 minutes. So, unlike the previous recommendations Naruto and Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, One-Punch Man is fairly less heavy to go through.

Hunter x Hunter

Hunters are extremely rare individuals who pass the annual Hunter examination organised by the Hunter Association. The possibility of becoming a Hunter is one in one hundred thousand. Their job is to find out secret treasures and beasts.

Gon Freecss, a young boy discovers that his father is a world-renowned Hunter. As he is missing, Gon then sets on a journey to find out his father and in the process becomes a Hunter himself. He finds new friends and goes on various adventures while fighting villains more powerful than him. Hunter x Hunter is considered arguably the best-written anime of all time. The 8.9 rated legendary show should definitely be on the watch list for My Hero Academy fans.

Yu Yu Hakusho

Yusuke Urameshi, the main protagonist, is killed while saving a child in a car accident. But he is later revived and made the Underworld detective with the responsibility to investigate ghosts and devils in the world of human beings. He fights evil forces to protect the world along with his friends and devils that he befriended.

Yu Yu Hakusho was written by Yoshihiro Togashi, who also wrote Hunter x Hunter. Although the show is from the 90s, it’s still fun to watch.

Mob Psycho 100

Kageyama Shigeo is a young boy who possesses immense powers which he has trouble controlling, just like Deku from the My Academy Hero. So just like Izuku Midoriya, he also struggles in similar ways. In order to learn self-control and use his powers as he wishes, he starts working with a self- proclaimed psychic. But, his benevolence gets him into trouble all the time, finding himself up against villains he risks using his power in unintended ways.

Kageyama is surely not as successful as the other anime that are recommended. But, it’s very entertaining to watch with all its fights and drama.

Assassination Classroom

Assassination Classroom is an uncanny anime and definitely an out of box recommendation. It is a story of middle school students who have been tasked to kill the villain Koro-Sensei. They have just one year to fulfil their mission, as the villain has vowed to destroy Earth in that time. What comes off as a weird turn around is Koro-sensei himself becomes the teacher of these school students. He teaches them how to assassinate himself, which will definitely sound crazy.  This uncanny comedy anime is definitely a show to try out. With all its weirdness, it does manage to entertain and make its viewers laugh on various occasions. This concludes the list of anime that are similar to My Hero Academia.
