Amazon Update on Affiliate Program starting on 21st of April 2020

by Steve Jefferson Wood Carver
Probably you've already read an update on Amazon affiliate program they're having since 2013. Bloggers of most of the niches will be getting lower fees starting on April 21st, 2020.
It implies huge changes for most if not all bloggers around the world.
People got used to getting fees for posting affiliate links in their content. For some of them, it's the only source of income.

Moreover, I am a representative of the group of people having their blogs and enjoying getting mentioned fees. 6% is not much but still, it's higher than 3% or even 1% out of sales. I write about wood carving and get some fees out of sales done from my articles. Now my whole income is cut down.

Why Amazon did that?
To tell you the truth, we can understand booths sides, Amazon and affiliates.
Meaning, when Amazon just started the whole game of affiliate marketers getting traffic to their platform, it was something new, something that changed the whole world and something that worked really well. Amazon was getting something like 40% of overall sales from affiliate sites. For now, only 6% or even less of their traffic comes from affiliates.
So why does Amazon need to pay high fees to bloggers then? That's just math, right?
I believe that at the end of the year the affiliate program will disappear completely.
For now, we can start thinking about the options we have and where shall we go next.
The world is changing.
Nothing is here forever.
