Amazon Prime Is Now Accessible On JetBlue

by MarkJ Guillen CEO
Amazon partners with JetBlue to allow Amazon Prime users stream its online video content while traveling.

Amazon Inc. is the largest online retailer that has shifted its focus to other businesses recently. The company has already established its name in the online retail industry and hence, wanted to achieve more in other sectors. Therefore, it expanded to offer cloud computing services, as well as entertainment offerings.

Amazon Web Services and Amazon Prime Video have captured the market in recent times. Amazon Prime Video is categorized under the same list in which Netflix and Hulu are present. The company’s online streaming service has strong potential to grow and is growing with time.

In order to make its reach vaster, the company is in serious negotiations with JetBlue to see possibilities of allowing viewers to access the video service in the air while traveling. The company wants to expand its reach to the skies and it is certainly doing so by providing prime video services to the passengers traveling through JetBlue flights. The member of this service will be able to stream the company’s online video service and will enjoy direct access to thousands of TV shows and movies while travelling.

Michael Paul, the Vice President of digital video at Amazon Prime said, “Working with JetBlue to provide high-speed Internet access that can support instant streaming, at no cost, is a great advantage to travelers.” It is the first time ever the company has approached or collaborated with any airline company, but it is not a bad partnership considering that it could bring new viewers to its platform.

The catalogue will also have company’s own produced and original content that include ‘Transparent’ and ‘Mozart in the jungle’. Reports suggest that the already-subscribed members will not have to pay any additional fees to avail this service; it will be free of cost only to Amazon Prime members.

Michael Paul adds, “What I can say is that Amazon is always looking for new ways that Prime members and customers can access our great library of movies and TV shows whenever and wherever they are — that includes in flight. We're thrilled JetBlue is the first airline we're working with for an inflight streaming video entertainment experience.”

It is believed that commercial air customers are the most tech savvy. Hence, this deal can prove to be beneficial for both parties, as it can bring more customers that will prefer to fly and travel through JetBlue; whereas, Amazon Prime can land more customers on its entertainment platform.
