What is virtual reality?
Virtual reality or VR as they call, in layman’s word is the 3D effect that you may have experienced in movie theaters. It is basically a computerized projection where an audience is made to feel that they are experiencing the situation projected by self in reel world, through the sounds and extrapolated visionary.
What do we mean by augmented reality?
The augmented reality today was formerly known as MR (mixed reality), did something click in your mind? This is the technology where the digital objects are added in the real world and gives you a perception of digital interaction, the technology will make you feel amidst of the virtual and real world. Augmented reality is the blend of real life and virtual reality.
Virtual reality vs. augmented reality:
Both augmented reality and virtual reality serves the similar goal of enhancing the user's experience in reel projected world, but being similar doesn’t mean the same, the ways are quite different from each other.
For the augmented reality users they are in continuous touch with the real environment while connecting with the virtual objects. But for virtual reality users, they are completely isolated from the actual environment and their mind is completely immersed in a fabricated world.
Augmented reality will not have much impact on video games or live interaction but the virtual reality will definitely enhance the video game experiences and to some extent for social networking.
Similarity in between virtual reality and augmented reality:
The technologies are there to give a feel of the virtual world, although both are user’s experience oriented but then the purpose seems quite similar.
- Experience: Both augmented reality and virtual reality serves user’s experience using the similar technological array.
- Entertainment: Certainly in the past 3D movies experiences were thrilling and now with the advent of these technologies, it will definitely redefine the experiences.
- Science/ medicine: Well at this point, it may sound a little vague but then again psychological treatments and counseling can easily be carried out.
Difference between virtual reality and augmented reality:
- Virtual reality is computerized projection of video or images creating an interactive environment, whereas augmented reality is about placing the virtual content.
- In order to interact and get the feel of virtual reality, you need certain eye gear or head-mount, whereas augmented reality is currently limited to the mobile device like a smartphone, tabs, and laptops.
Both virtual reality and augmented reality if blended together will surely display a thrilling experience definitely enhancing user’s experience. These technologies are in beta mode and soon will rule the market, it is better to learn virtual reality programming, in order to stay ahead before the competition starts.
