All the Latest Details About Samsung’s Upcoming Galaxy Buds Live
by Peter Anderson WriterThe news about the upcoming Samsung
Galaxy Buds Live leaked on Twitter, and the word started to spread like a
forest fire. The bean-shaped earbuds have caught everyone’s attention as it has
the potential to take the audio tech industry by storm. A Twitter user shared a
video of the product and revealed that the earbuds would be available in three
color variations, i.e., rose gold, white, and black. The footage also dropped
hints about the product offering two charging points, LED indicator, and noise
cancellation. A lot of speculations have been going around ever since. As per
our research, here is all that we’ve found about the Samsung Galaxy Buds Live.
Touch Controls and Bixby
The first and foremost exciting
feature is the areas that give access to touch controls. Both the earbuds have
their touch area, tap, and hold combinations that perform unique functions. One
has to rely on the manuals to learn these touch control commands. Some of the
expected controls are:
- Tap-and-Hold –
By default, Samsung has set it to activate noise cancellation, but you can
customize the toggle as per your preference. You can use it to reject
calls as well.
- Single tap –
Use it to play and pause your music, or to stop text-to-speech feature.
- Double-tap – It
offers multiple functions, such as to skip the music, answer or end the
call, switch back and forth between the calls and hold the call.
- Triple tap –
Use it to go back to the previous song.
Using the earbuds, you can also
connect to Samsung’s voice assistant called Bixby. Say “Hi, Bixby” to wake up
the assistant, and ask to fulfill any task on your behalf, without touching
your phone or earbuds. Use the Galaxy Wearable app to tweak the touch control
settings.
Mic Quality and Voice Assistant
Users will be impressed by the
microphone quality of this earbud. We found remarkable voice clarity and the
difference it makes. This new upgrade might prompt you to rely more on the
earbuds rather than your phone to get the optimum voice clarity during calls.
These earbuds use Always On Mic (AOM) feature, which means that the microphones
are proactive and are always ready to pick up your voice commands. It will
rapidly connect you to Bixby, the voice assistant, as well. There is no clarity
if the earbuds will offer a connection to Google Voice Assistant or not.
Noise Cancellation and Battery
As we mentioned earlier that these
earbuds have robust noise cancellation technology. It might prove to be a
fierce competition to the existing earphones/earbuds, like Sony WF-1000XM3,
Panasonic RZ-S500W, and Apple AirPods Pro. Users can manually switch on the
toggle for noise cancellation while they listen to music. From the leaked
pictures, one can observe that the earbuds will fit perfectly into the ears to
block noise and offer unique sound quality. But this brings points towards
battery longevity. Better the noise cancellation, lower are the chances of
all-day lasting earbuds. It is speculated that the battery might last up to 4.5
hours only. The Galaxy Buds Live manual is also available now, which offers the
guide to charge the device case using a Qi wireless charger. Only three minutes
of charging will run the device for 35 minutes, approx. The charging case shows
three lights, i.e. red, yellow, green, to depict the battery level.
Live Fitness Tracker
Samsung has reintroduced heart rate
sensors and fitness trackers in this earbud. This can be a great option to
carry on with your workouts at home or for walking and jogging. These earbuds
are integrated with IPX2 rated, which can be a great partner during extreme
workout sessions. It can help you track your heart rate, calorie intake, and
steps.
These were some of the details that
surfed on Twitter. The rest of the information on the product might be
available on 5th August 2020, at the Samsung Unpacked event. The price of the
product might range between $150 to $200.
