AFL Goal Posts for Backyards

by Steve Newton Software Developer & Travel Manager
Do you have kids that go for a kick of AFL football in the backyard but do not have any goal posts for them to aim at? At goal posts Lamer we have portable and permanent goal posts for you to set up for your kids, so they can use them all year round.

Finding the right spot in your backyard can be a hit and miss scenario. If you put the goals in the wrong place then you may have broken windows on your hands, If you put them too close to a fence, then your kids will be forever jumping over the neighbours fence to retrieve their ball. Sometimes people have ‘Neighbours from Hell” and getting their football back is a hard and risky task. If you have trees and a veggie garden, then playing footy too close to these can wreck your precious garden plot.

If you are lucky enough to have a big backyard, then setting up some AFL goal posts will only take a few hours and they are built to last a life time. Some can be made out of plastic or you can even go for stronger, long lasting galvanised iron ones. Make sure you get some padding on the lower part of the goals, just so kids do not injure themselves if they happen to run into them.

Giving your kids a form of fun and exercise in their backyards will encourage them to get out of the house more often and get their life on track for some well needed fitness. If children start their fitness or sports playing early, then they are more likely to continue this during their lifetime. This will ensure they have a healthier future and get sick less often.

Playing sports will also be good for social reasons. They can get involved with a sports club and therefore get involved with playing regular sports and then meeting more children their age and learning about being competitive and learning what it is like to be a part of a team. Being competitive is a great way for them to learn to lose and win and the joy that they can get by winning as a part of a team can give them memorise that last a lifetime.

If you are unsure if there is a sporting club near you, just go for a drive around your area after work or on a Saturday afternoon. Drive pat some parks and ovals and you should see some local team either training or playing their sports. Then just approach them and ask them if there are teams for your child’s age group. It is also a good way for parents to meet other parents and then start new friendships that way as well.

If you just end up setting up goal posts in your backyard then it is still a good step in your child’s fitness future.
